Giuliani just obliterated the goal posts on Trump-Russia collusion

Robert Mueller

The president and his legal team continue to deny he was aware of a June 2016 meeting in Trump Tower between top campaign officials and a Russian lawyer offering damaging information about Clinton. He added, however, that there is a question of whether Americans conspired with Russian Federation to violate US laws.

The New York Times, in a January article detailing an attempt by Trump to fire Mueller previous year that the President ultimately backed off from, said Trump claimed one of Mueller's conflicts stemmed from a dispute over fees at the Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia.

"I can't tell you whether he would pardon him or not", Giuliani told CNN "New Day" co-anchor Alisyn Camerota, adding, "I can't take away from the President, nor would I, the discretion to pardon anyone".

"Hacking is the crime". Well, the President didn't hack! Giuliani said. "We have every reason to believe they don't have anything of the President doing anything wrong".

"I'm not sure I know what exactly what the conflict is", Giuliani said. However, former FBI Chief of Staff Chuck Rosenberg pointed out yesterday on MSNBC, that collusion is " absolutely a crime". "I suspect that we'll see that in some of his rulings".

'It's a very, very familiar lawyer's argument that the alternative - my client didn't do it and even if he did it, it's not a crime.

Of course, Giuliani is correct in his analysis that collusion, in and of itself, is not a crime.

'The only crime there is hacking and it's ridiculous to think that the president hacked. I say that to attack the legitimacy of the investigation, ' Giuliani said.

New N. Korea missiles unlikely to doom talks, experts say
Reports last week suggested that a separate North Korean site used to develop missile engines was dismantling its facilities. It will possibly take months, if not years, to identify the remains handed over in 55 boxes.

When Rod Rosenstein, the acting USA attorney general for purposes of investigations related to Russian election interference, appointed Mueller in May 2017, he made it clear that Mueller's first order of business was to investigate possible collusion by the Trump campaign. "For the conspiracy charge to succeed, it is not required that every participant in the conspiracy play the same substantive role", he said.

Giuliani said Monday that the Trump team actually knows of "183 recordings" from Cohen, but many of them involved people having nothing to do with Trump. On Twitter, the president has claimed that there was "no collusion" on 38 separate occasions - and sometimes in all caps.

Trump's tweets on Sunday represented his most specific attempt yet to discredit any findings of the Mueller investigation into alleged election collusion with Russians, following clear signs that his previous assaults have been effective in hardening the opinion of GOP voters against the probe.

But there's more ahead: Wilson expects that there will be new developments "coming down the pipe from Robert Mueller". Mueller has even suggested recently that the President's tweets will be examined for evidence of obstruction.

"He did not participate in any meeting about the Russian Federation transaction", Giuliani said.

Rudy Giuliani had a disastrous Monday, to put it mildly.

Swan quotes Giuliani saying: "Why don't you write a report and show us what you have, because they don't have a g--mn thing".
