Photos show NK building new ICBM near Pyongyang

The North Korea flag flutters next to concertina wire at the North Korean embassy in Kuala Lumpur

One US source said North Korea appears to be building one or two new liquid-fuelled ICBMs at the research facility on the outskirts of Pyongyang. According to The Post, the officials said the new information reveals that work is potentially taking place on one or two liquid-fueled intercontinental ballistic missiles in Sanumdong, a suburb of Pyongyang.

The findings are the latest to show ongoing activity inside North Korea's nuclear and missile facilities at a time when the country's leaders are engaged in arms talks with the United States.

White House counselor Kellyanne Conway on Tuesday played down the significance of the Post report.

He declined to say whether Pyongyang is building new missiles. "Things don't change overnight", Conway later added.

Trump said in a Twitter post following the summit with Kim in Singapore last month: "Everybody can now feel much safer than the day I took office".

North Korea has carried out a total of six nuclear tests, the most recent of which took place in September past year. The newspaper suggests this is not an expansion of North Korea's nuclear program, but evidence that the country's development of advanced weapons has continued.

However, it called on the SDF to remain alert to possible threats from North Korea.

Once the boxes are in DPAA custody, the first step will be to inventory them to determine whether the remains are those of Americans, Duus said.

California wildfire claims lives of great-grandmother, two children and firefighters
In addition to the Carr Fire, more than a dozen other large wildfires are burning throughout California, stretching resources. The fire doubled in size Saturday, growing to more than 83,800 acres while putting residents and firefighters in harm's way.

More than 400 caskets of remains found in North Korea were returned to the United States between the 1990s and 2005, with the bodies of some 330 other Americans also accounted for, according to the DPAA.

Still, North Korea has taken some actions since the summit, including the repatriation of dozens of sets of remains from Western soldiers killed during the Korean War.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un agreed during his meeting with Trump to "work toward" the "denuclearization" of the Korean Peninsula.

North and South Korea are among the 45 countries participating in this year's Asian Games.

However, John Byrd, a U.S. Department of Defense forensic anthropologist told reporters at the Osan air base in South Korea that there was "no reason to doubt" that the boxes of remains "do relate to Korean War losses", and that at least some are likely American. "That was certainly the case during the Cold War when the USA and USSR continued to build missiles and nuclear weapons even while negotiating arms reduction agreements".

Pompeo assured lawmakers that the United States was working toward finding a solution without easing its sanctions against North Korea, but also admitted during his testimony that it was "continuing to create fissile material".

The pledge to transfer war remains was seen as a goodwill gesture by Kim at the Singapore summit, and was the most concrete agreement reached by the two sides so far.

In the past, North Korea turned over commingled remains.
