2 dead, 6 others injured in Claiborne Ave. shooting

Three dead several injured in New Orleans

A search is underway for two suspects accused of killing three people and injuring seven others in New Orleans, the city's police chief said.

Seven people were injured in a shooting a few miles from the city's French Quarter, and were taken to area hospitals in varying conditions. "We need them to know that they can trust us and come to us". A lot of people, we know, saw what happened, heard what happened.

The New Orleans Advocate reported the shooter targeted Jeremiah Lee ran across a street and into a large group of people before he fell in front of the Chicken & Watermelon eatery. Police say the other six are being treated for non-life threatening injuries. "Firing indiscriminately into a crowd, shooting 10 people, killing three?"

"We want to make sure that the people involved in this don't take matters into their own hands", he emphasized. The three victims were two men and one woman.

Shortly after the shooting, responders from the NOPD, State Police, the Housing Authority of New Orleans and the ATF were on the scene surveying the damage and starting the investigation.

New Orleans Police Department Superintendent Michael Harrison told reporters at the scene shortly after midnight that people are on the loose after fleeing on foot.

Mayor LaToya Cantrell condemned the violence in a statement released soon after the shootings. Three more lives-gone. It has to end. A $5,000 reward that leads to an arrest is being offered.

Harrison said it is unclear if that crime was related to Claiborne shooting.
