Woman survived 7 days after driving off California cliff

Woman Missing a Week Found Alive Down a Cliff

The Monterey County Sheriff's Office says missing OR woman Angela Hernandez has been found alive south of Big Sur, almost a week after her vehicle went over a cliff. She was driving from Portland to visit family in Lancaster, in Southern California.

Over the next seven days, officials say Angela used a radiator hose from her jeep as a straw, surviving off of drips of water from a nearby natural spring. She is expected to recover from her injuries. She was transported by ambulance to a waiting helicopter, then to the hospital.

Angela Hernandez, 23, was found on Friday after hikers noticed her Jeep Patriot SUV partially submerged at the bottom of a cliff in the Big Sur area.

"It's usually the fall that gets them, or the ocean that gets them, and she was lucky to survive both", Thornburg said.

Authorities were alerted by a couple who spotted the woman's white Jeep and heard her cries for help Friday evening, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. Her auto plummeted 250 feet down a cliff, into the ocean.

Dr Challen said, "It wasn't unsafe for us but I can't emphasise enough how risky it was for the kids". Last week, Manchester United invited the Wild Boars to watch a match at their Old Trafford ground.

A couple that found missing OR woman along the Monterey County Coast near Big Sur are speaking out.

Hernandez said she woke up and felt water rising over her knees.

Her disappearance captured widespread attention after she and her vehicle were last seen on a surveillance camera video at a Carmel gas station on July 6, about 80 kilometres north of the stretch of Highway 1 where she was found. "She's a fighter and she fought this long and she will continue to".

Angela wrote on Facebook that she suffered a brain hemorrhage, fractured ribs, broken collar bones, a collapsed lung and more. Law enforcement agencies began looking for Hernandez on July 6, when her family reported that she'd stopped communicating with them. "We just want to thank everybody. that helped", she told CNN affiliate KGO.

Ms Hernandez had been travelling from OR to Southern California to visit sister Isabel when her communication suddenly stopped.
