Trump says Prime Minister "went the opposite way" from his Brexit advice

Trump balloon appears before UK visit; embassy warns Americans to keep heads down

Referring to the plan outlined on Thursday in which Britain would aim to keep strong ties in trading of goods with the European Union, he said: "The deal she is striking is a much different deal than the one the people voted on".

"And it's an opportunity to shape the future of the world through co-operation in advanced technology, such as artificial intelligence".

Trump, in the interview given before he left Brussels for the United Kingdom, accused May of ruining what her country stands to gain from the Brexit vote to leave the European Union. "The UK is the largest investor in the USA, providing almost a fifth of all foreign investment in your country", she said.

Yet according to David Wemer of the Atlantic Council, a new U.S. -U.K. trade deal isn't a high priority for the Trump administration.

Demonstrator Claudia Boes said she was pleased at the turnout, adding "even outside the normal political circles this is an issue that affects people". "This is not an accident".

Johnson has been a repeated defender of Trump and the president suggested earlier this week that he may meet with the former foreign secretary during his trip, despite his resignation.

The Trumps landed Thursday afternoon local time at Stansted Airport, 40 miles northeast of the British capital.

He is due to stay overnight back at Winfield House, where demonstrators plan to play recordings of migrant children held in USA detention centres.

Ambassador Johnson sought to play down Trump's comments.

Stoltenberg says Trump's approach is paying off. White House Chief of Staff John Kelly and National Security Adviser John Bolton followed close behind.

He and First Lady Melania will have a meet and greet at the US Embassy in London.

United States President Donald Trump said he doesn't feel welcome in London, and he blames that in part on Mayor Sadiq Khan.

Since the president will travel by helicopter to locations, it is unlikely he'll actually see the demonstrations. Trump has denied any collusion with Russian Federation.

But some 77 per cent of Britons have an unfavourable view of Trump, according to a poll by YouGov with 1,648 respondents.

He had used a Thursday morning press conference in Brussels to attack the Prime Minister's Brexit plan and highlight Cabinet divisions.

"You know I've been reading a lot on Brexit over the last couple of days and its seems to be turning a little bit differently where they're getting at least partially involved back with the European Union", he said. "That's why you have Brexit in the first place, because of immigration".

He added, "If they do that, their trade deal with the USA will probably not be made because we have enough difficulty with the European Union".

Trump questioned May's plans for leaving the EU.

"I don't know if that is what they voted for", he said.

"I am not pitting one against the other", Trump said in the interview. "I think that's why they voted for Brexit". The people vote to break it up so I would imagine that's what they'd do.

He was severely criticised last November, including by May, after sharing three inflammatory anti-Muslim videos posted by far-right group Britain First.

The government said Britain would act "as if in a combined customs territory" with the European Union, using technology at its border to determine whether goods from third countries are bound for Britain or the European Union, and then charging the appropriate tariffs. The turmoil in Prime Minister Theresa May's government over Brexit has been noticed by U.S. President Donald Trump as he begins a four-day visit to Britain.

Trump added: "I think he is a great representative for your country".

"There is definitely a sense that Britain needs America more because of Brexit", said Bronwen Maddox, head of the Institute for Government, a think tank.
