Trump to talk to Russia's Putin about substantially reducing nuclear weapons

NATO insists it's united at end of raucous, divisive summit

Trump will hold his first summit with Putin in Helsinki on Monday after meeting with North Atlantic Treaty Organisation allies.

They regard such meeting "a betrayal of democracy", in particular after the U.S. Justice Department pressed charges against 12 Russian intelligence agents concerning the interference in the elections, as CNN reports.

US President Donald Trump said that a relationship with Russia would benefit the entire world, but warned that he had low expectations going into his summit meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin next week.

Rosenstein said the Department of Justice had briefed President Donald Trump on the newly discovered evidence and charges before Trump's upcoming meeting with Putin.

The Kremlin firmly denied meddling in the 2016 USA presidential election Friday just hours before a dozen Russian military intelligence officers were indicted for alleged election-related hacking, a development that could cloud the upcoming U.S.

"I know that the situation in the region is hard and we are grateful that you have used the World Cup as a reason to come to Moscow", Putin said, adding that he was glad of the opportunity to discuss the problems facing the Palestinians.

"Putin is not America's friend, nor merely a competitor". Russian Federation has denied any involvement in the attack and rejected accusations that it interfered in the U.S. presidential election in a bid to help Trump win.

"Presidents have been trying unsuccessfully for years to get Germany and other rich NATO Nations to pay more toward their protection from Russian Federation", one tweet said. "We have to start to set them right".

"You never know but let's see, perhaps there will be a conversation about concrete visits to Moscow or to Washington", Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov told reporters on Friday, calling the summit "the main event of the summer".

"When I saw her this morning I said I want to apologize because I said such good things about you", said President Trump at a joint press conference with May.

Croatia beats England to qualify for their first World Cup final
Winger Ivan Perisic levelled scores on the 67th minute after a great cross from defender Sime Vrsaljko. For Croatia , it's on the brink of arguably the most shocking World Cup title run in modern history.

Senior Trump administration officials also have voiced fears about what he might give Putin to the detriment of allies in Europe, especially after seeing how Trump appeared to get only vague commitments from North Korean leader Kim Jong Un at their June 12 summit in Singapore to discuss denuclearization.

"Russia has shown itself to be an adversary of the United States and our allies and a serious threat to global peace, security, and stability", they wrote to Trump.

He said the Cold War had ended a long time ago, and that in some areas, such as global security, arms control, and fighting worldwide terrorism, Russian and US interests coincided.

But Ushakov told reporters on Friday that the USA side in the summit may raise the issue of alleged election meddling. "Because I said it was unfair", Trump said, referring to NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg.

Trump declared that he had ended the nuclear threat from North Korea, but one senior USA official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said: "Who's to say he won't come out of Helsinki saying he and Putin agreed that Russian Federation no longer poses a threat to the rest of Europe?"

The announcement Mueller obtained indictments of the 12, all members of Russia's military intelligence agency, comes just three days before Trump and Putin are to meet in Helsinki.

Trump said that by the end of the conference North Atlantic Treaty Organisation partners had agreed to make "substantial" spending increases to meet their two percent of GDP spending obligations at a faster pace than previously agreed upon.

Prosecutors also detailed a second Russian operation targeting the infrastructure that Americans use to cast their ballots and the officials that oversee those elections locally.

Democratic lawmakers urged Trump to cancel the get-together with Putin. He also said during a joint press conference with the British Prime Minister Theresa May that his administration was "tougher on Russian Federation than anybody". "Anything you do, it's always going to be, 'Oh, Russia, he loves Russia"'.
