Eight Out Alive: More Daring Cave Rescue Success!

Thailand Navy SEALs Confirm Multiple Boys of Youth Soccer Team Rescued from Cave

He expected it to arrive around 11 p.m. Monday, local time.

The entire operation to get all 13 out of the cave could last two to four days, depending on weather and water conditions, army Maj.

The rescued boys are being kept in sterilized isolation units at a nearby hospital, which prohibits physical contact, and their parents have not been told they're safe.

When asked if the four boys rescued on Sunday had eaten pad grapao, the Thai meat basil dish they'd been clamoring for, Osatanakorn said no, but that they were "fine" and could eat other normal foods, like porridge, according to the Guardian.

The head of the rescue mission, Narongsak Osottanakorn, announced late on Sunday the first four children were brought out safely.

The mission was paused overnight on Sunday for air tanks to be replaced.

Meanwhile, as CNN reported on Sunday, the rescue effort in Thailand has assembled divers and Navy Seal personnel from various countries including the United States and Thailand itself, which saw one elite diver die on Friday during the operation to save the boys.

He said the health of the five people remaining in the cave was "still good" and rescuers would resume an operation to retrieve them in about 20 hours' time.

Thai Navy SEALs use Facebook for nail-biting updates on cave rescue mission
Authorities in northern Chiang Rai province began the risky mission to bring out the 12 boys and their coach earlier on Sunday. Expert divers worked together to rescue guide the boys out through the narrow passageways of the cave.

"I would like to inform the public at home and those who have been giving us support all along, after 16 days, today's the day we've been waiting for, we are seeing the Wild Boars in the flesh now". They were in good condition in hospital, officials said.

Plans called for the boys to be placed in ambulances and given medical assessments.

The extraction of the four on Monday followed a similar pattern to the previous day, with the youngsters emerging in quick succession just before nightfall after navigating a treacherous escape route of more than four kilometres (2.5 miles). They have been stuck in the cave since June 23 after heavy rains flooded the Tham Luang Nan Non caves in Chiang Rai, a popular tourist attraction in the region.

The Thai government has confirmed that rescuers have managed to free four boys from the cave in Northern Thailand where they have been trapped for two weeks.

Four of the boys were rescued yesterday, but nine remain underground including their 25-year-old fooitball coach, Ekkapol Chantawong. Two divers were assigned to each child to help them navigate the unsafe, narrow passageways.

Officials said it had not changed the water level in the cave but forecasters have warned rain could continue to hit the area throughout the week. Meteorologists estimated a 60% chance of rain in the area on Monday. Elon Musk has also dispatched engineers from Tesla, Space X, and the Boring Company. Earlier in the day, he went to Phuket to check on the search operation of tourists who were missing after a boat capsized off the resort island's coast on Thursday.

Narongsak would not identify the rescued boys.

Rescuers have been navigating a unsafe and complicated plan to get the children out under the threat of heavy rain and rising water underground.
