Report Multiple People Shot at Annapolis Newspaper

According to the report, threatening tweets to Capital Gazette employees included "mention of blood in the water, journalist hell, hit man, open season", "murderous rampage", and "murder career and paper".

"I'll say this", Altomare said, "the fellow was there to kill as many people as he could kill". "I even told my wife, "We have to be concerned". Ramos directed scores of profanity-laced tweets at the paper's journalists, AP reports. Hiassen was an assistant editor and columnist.

Within a week of his conviction, the paper published an article titled "Jarrod wants to be your friend" in the Sunday edition of the Capital Gazette. Police said they were on the scene in about a minute from the initial call about the shooting.

Ramos pursued appeals of that order until 2016, but did not prevail. Maryland court records show that in October 2014, a restraining order was entered against him, ordering him not to have contact with the woman. Also in 2013, yet another peace order was issued against Ramos.

However, the case was dismissed and the judge said Ramos "does not appear to have learned his lesson". Ramos appealed at least two of the three peace orders filed against him.

He noted that some of his colleagues were out reporting on the shooting story as it continued to unfold late Thursday and said he expected the next day's paper would include that coverage and whatever else would be in a typical Friday paper.

Reporter Selene San Felice told CNN she was at her desk and ran after hearing shots, but wasn't able to open the back door.

Authorities have identified the suspected gunman behind Thursday's deadly shooting at the Capital Gazette in Annapolis - which they described as a "targeted attack" on the newspaper.

South Korea marks anniversary of Korean War
North Korean officials did not have any on-the-record comments on the move, but AP staff said they confirmed on Monday the event had been called off.

Officials said the shooting at the Capital Gazette newspaper was carried out by a white adult male resident of Maryland state who was being questioned in custody. Police said all of the victims killed were Capital Gazette employees; Gerald Fischman, Rob Hiaasen, John McNamara, Rebecca Smith and Wendi Winters.

"When I sat for my endorsement interviews in 2010, he made it clear to me it was to be earned and by no means was guaranteed", former two-term Anne Arundel County Councilman Jamie Benoit told the newspaper.

Law enforcement in Baltimore and New York City deployed extra officers to the offices of the New York Times and other major media outlets as a precaution, authorities said.

The suspect is Jarrod Ramos, 38, of Laurel, the Capital Gazette and Baltimore Sun reported citing law enforcement.

According to source he had damaged his own fingerprints and had to be identified by facial recognition software.

Court documents revealed that Ramos was terminated in July 2014 by his employer, Enterprise Information Services, where he worked as a help desk specialist at the Bureau of Labor Statistics in Washington, DC.

In the article, Ramos was described as a tall, thin man with long hair worn in a ponytail.
