The World Seems To Feel Safer After Trump-Kim Summit
As Gizmodo reports, during the 40-minute one-on-one meeting between Trump and Kim Jong-un, the US president showed his counterpart the movie trailer on his iPad.
Hayden served as director of the National Security Council during the administration of President George W. Bush and as Central Intelligence Agency chief under President Barack Obama. Donald Trump is so determined to convince Kim Jong-un of the benefits of agreeing to disarmament that he created a four-minute fake movie trailer starring the pair of them.
Tensions between the two nations have been the epicenter of heightening geopolitical tensions past year, with North Korea taking center stage in Trump administration's foreign policy agenda.
Trump added he believes Kim is committed not to start testing his nuclear weapons again and that it will take time for him to dismantle his nuclear program.
"All of our members have served in combat and we understand the importance of bring our war dead home to bring closure to families", said Veterans of Foreign Wars National Commander Keith Harman.
At the historic summit between the two leaders on Tuesday, Mr. Trump said he agreed to halt all joint US military exercises with South Korea and consider reducing USA forces there.
Kim Jong Un and Donald Trump in Singapore for historic summit
While this meeting with Mr Kim may be just the start of what might be a long and fraught journey, it is at least that - a start. The eventual removal of the roughly 30,000 USA troops from South Korea .
The two leaders first sat down for a private meeting, followed by another with their advisers.
Perdue emphasized that it is also "totally premature" to discuss the United States withdrawing its nuclear umbrella from the Korea peninsula in exchange for the total denuclearization of North Korea.
Nor does the agreement include an offer Trump told reporters he made to freeze US military "war games" with ally South Korea while negotiations between the United States and the North continue.
But why were those military exercises taking place at all, and how did almost 29,000 USA troops end up in South Korea? You know, we did sanctions and all the things you would do but I think without the rhetoric, you know, other administrations, I don't want to get specific on that, but you know they had a policy of silence. Trump said he wanted to end the war games to save money, but he also called the exercises "inappropriate" while talks continue.
Trump is being hailed for his meeting with the North Korean leader.
Kim Hyo Chom left North Korea when he was just six years old after his father was killed and fled to South Korea.
