Trump declares North Korea 'no longer a nuclear threat'

The two leaders met on Tuesday and signing a brief declaration on denuclearization and reducing tensions.

"Kim Jong-un and Trump had the shared recognition to the effect that it is important to abide by the principle of step-by-step and simultaneous action in achieving peace, stability and denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula", KCNA said.

Pompeo said during a news conference with foreign ministers Taro Kono of Japan and Kang Kyung-wha of South Korea that the agreement included those demands, even if they were not spelt out.

Bell adds that Kim Jong Un would be pleased with the outcome of the summit because beyond some unilateral moves, like a potentially superficial shut-down of their nuclear test site, "the North Koreans did not make a lot of concessions to get the meeting they have desired for so long".

Pompeo said that President Donald Trump's comment about North Korea no longer posing a nuclear threat was made "with eyes wide open".

North Korea will not get any sanctions relief until it has demonstrated "complete denuclearisation", US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has said.

With the president offering North Korea several concessions at the Singapore summit with Kim, including the cessation of military-preparedness training with the South Koreans and the possible removal of US troops from the Korean Peninsula, critics of the administration say the U.S.is giving China exactly what it wants.

The US President said: "Just landed - a long trip, but everybody can now feel much safer than the day I took office".

IHOP? IHOb? What's with the name change?
In fact, most people felt like the "b" was probably going to stand for " breakfast ", which would have made a lot of sense. Some are calling it an "epic fail", saying it's the least likely reason to go to a restaurant known for its pancakes.

"There is no longer a Nuclear Threat from North Korea."
North Korea's Kim Jong-un left Singapore at around 11:20 PM yesterday, . and he is expected to have arrived in North Korea this morning. That kind of thing is very threatening to North Korea. Ultimately, in the short term, at least while diplomacy continues, Trump's tweets seem to indicate he is ready to live with the fact that North Korea has nuclear weapons and potentially the capacity to fire them at the United States, in an implicit erosion of the USA strategic position.

On Wednesday Mr Trump took to Twitter, saying: "The World has taken a big step back from potential Nuclear catastrophe!"

Earlier on Monday, the group had unfurled banners near the Capella Singapore hotel in Sentosa, where the summit between United States President Donald Trump and Mr Kim was held on Tuesday.

"The President of the US expressed the possibility of suspending the US - South Korea joint military exercises. and, as progress is made from dialogue and negotiations, lifting sanctions against DPRK", state media said. "But the issues of the alliance should be dealt with under the premise we maintain joint ironclad defense posture". "They are fighting hard to downplay the deal with North Korea".

The two Koreas were also to hold the first high-level military talks in 10 years on Thursday, according to the South Korean news agency Yonhap.

"China opts for the first one and has made such a decision, we hope the USA will make a wise choice and China on its part is prepared on all fronts", remarked Wang.
