WH Adviser Apologizes For 'Special Place In Hell' For Trudeau Remark

US signs G-7 declaration calling for reduction of tariffs after tense summit with allies

Trudeau reiterated his objections to Trump's imposition of tariffs on steel and aluminum from Canada, Mexico and the European Union and his own plans to introduce retaliatory measures targeting USA products.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has closed the G7 summit by stating he "won't be pushed around" by Donald Trump on trade. "And that's what bad faith Justin Trudeau did with that stunt press conference".

Both aides accused Trudeau of betraying Trump, a Republican, at a news conference held after the USA president had departed Canada.

Trump has consistently railed against what he claims are unfair trade practices by some of America's biggest trade partners, including Canada.

He was reacting to Trudeau's declaration that Canadians would "not be pushed around" and would hit back at punishing USA tariffs on metal imports with "equivalent tariffs".

President Donald Trump's trade policy adviser, Peter Navarro, apologized Tuesday for his "inappropriate" comment suggesting that "there's a special place in hell" for Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Trump was by then on his way to his summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in Singapore, having left the G7 early and after a press conference of his own in which he complained about trade.

EPA chief's top legal counsel latest senior aide to leave
A separate statement released by the EPA had Greenwalt praising Pruitt's "visionary leadership and tenacity". Greenwalt is returning to Oklahoma to work as counsel with the state's workers' compensation commission.

"We have done just that at this summit, registering our deep disappointment at the unjustified decision by the U.S. to apply tariffs to European Union steel and aluminium imports".

Trump on Sunday arrived in Singapore, where he and Kim are to meet Tuesday to discuss that nation's nuclear arsenal.

The president has made a lot of noise at this year's G7 event in the Quebec town of La Malbaie - first by launching a Twitter attack on Canada's trade policies before the summit and then for suggesting Russian Federation be invited to re-join the alliance. "And frankly, I think that's out of line", Senate Finance Committee chairman Orrin Hatch, a Utah Republican, told reporters.

President Donald Trump on Friday kept up his attacks on US allies ahead of his trip to the Group of Seven summit in remote Quebec.

But Arizona Sen. John McCain, who is often aligned with Graham, pushed back Saturday against Trump's refusal to sign the G-7 statement.

- "Canada charges the US a 270% tariff on Dairy Products!"

Former Conservative cabinet minister James Moore, a member of the government's advisory group on NAFTA, hailed Trudeau's approach, refusing to react to "the noise, the bluster, the Twitter, the emotional outbursts". Now the US, Canada and Mexico are renegotiating the NAFTA agreement which Trump had earlier deemed to be unfair for the US. "It is essentially double crossing", Kudlow told CNN's Jake Tapper. "The Prime Minister said nothing he hasn't said before - both in public, and in private conversations with the president".
