Kushner and Kardashian Win Pardon For Alice Johnson

Trump at a campaign rally in Moon Township Pa

Her co-defendants who testified against her at the time received sentences ranging from probation to 10 years, while Johnson received life with parole plus 25 years.

Though there are no specific plans yet, Johnson said she'll be meeting Kardashian West very soon. I've even been so honest to say, 'Look, Trump is the last person I thought that would've done this.' But he did.

Kardashian revealed she initially contacted POTUS' daughter Ivanka Trump and was then connected to Ivanka's husband, Jared Kushner.

Multiple reports now show Johnson has been released from prison and is reunited with her family.

Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA) claimed on CNN Wednesday that President Trump has "perverted the pardon process" by pardoning people based on "celebrity status or because a celebrity talked to him". Trump has also been drawn to cases in which he believes there was a political motivation to the prosecutions - situations that may remind him of his own predicament at the center of special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian election meddling. There has been speculation that with the Trump - with the Russian Federation investigation, which President Trump calls a witch hunt, that he may be trying to let anyone who might be indicted or maybe even could testify against him in this probe that he would be - let them know that he would be willing to use his pardon power for them. Trump signed a commutation one week later.

Unlike other presidential actions, which require legislative support or can be challenged legally, the president's power to pardon is nearly unchecked.

"When the criteria came out for clemency, I thought for sure - in fact, I was certain that I'd met and exceeded all of the criteria", Johnson told Mic in October. And Kardashian said she tried to use her platform to help those who had been working on the case. But, over time, they formed a bond, and Kardashian was the one to break the clemency news to Johnson in a phone call with her lawyers.

Jared Leto’s Joker Is Getting His Own Movie
We already know, for example, that Leto is set to reprise his role in the sequel to Suicide Squad , set to begin filming in 2019. The outlet , who spoke with sources, reports: "[The film will pave] the way for future movies branching from " Suicide Squad .

"Telling her for the first time and hearing her screams while crying together is a moment I will never forget", she wrote on Twitter.

The White House said Johnson "has accepted responsibility for her past behavior and has been a model prisoner over the past two decades".

Attorney Brittany K. Barnett, another member of Johnson's legal team, said Johnson felt overwhelmed with emotion and like she's been "resurrected from the dead".

Alice Marie Johnson was serving a life sentence for a non violent drug offence in 1996. The 1994 indictment describes dozens of deliveries and drug transactions, many involving Johnson.

Johnson was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole, and appellate courts and the U.S. Supreme Court had denied her appeals. On Thursday night, a portion of the interview aired during CNN Tonight With Don Lemon where, among other things, Kim said she was "starstruck over the Oval Office".

Read: Kim Kardashian was ridiculed for her White House visit.

"She may have simply noticed the video or learn an article or no matter and simply stated oh that is a disgrace or no matter and went on along with her life, however she did not, she selected to get entangled in a serious manner", Johnson stated of Kardashian.
