EPA chief's top legal counsel latest senior aide to leave

Scott Pruitt directed EPA aide to help his wife find a job at Chick-fil-A adding to his ethical scandals

On Wednesday, Pruitt laughed when a reporter asked about the reports he had tried to use his government position to financially benefit his spouse.

Thomas Carper of DE, reiterated his call that Pruitt step down.

He did not comment directly on whether he was seeking a franchise for his wife. A separate statement released by the EPA had Greenwalt praising Pruitt's "visionary leadership and tenacity". But Pruitt later told a congressional committee that he gave a top aide permission to give at least two EPA employees big raises, deviating from how he characterized authorization for these raises in the past.

Their resignations leave Pruitt increasingly isolated at the EPA, where he has lost the confidence of most of the agency's career staff and many conservative political appointees who feel that Pruitt's ethical lapses have done a disservice to the President's agenda.

Greenwalt is returning to Oklahoma to work as counsel with the state's workers' compensation commission.

Rep. Elijah Cummings of Maryland, the ranking Democrat on the House Oversight committee investigating Pruitt, said Hupp shouldn't have to take the fall for her boss.

Putin Expects Sanctions To Be Lifted, Relations With West Improved
Trump on national security grounds - are showing EU leaders that trying to appease Washington doesn't work. No one wanted to listen, and no one wanted to do anything to stop these tendencies.

Last year, Pruitt also directed Hupp's younger sister to reach out to a senior executive at Chick-fil-A to inquire about a "business opportunity".

"He is acting like a moron and he needs to stop it", Kennedy said.

"I've had the opportunity to know Millan for the last several years as a colleague, friend and trusted partner", Pruitt said.

There are now a dozen federal inquiries underway into Pruitt's conduct and actions, which also include a Clinton-like disregard for e-mail protocol, and a luxury travel habit that has cost taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars and millions more in absurd security details.

Senate Whip John Cornyn, R-Texas, said that all of the Pruitt stories "seem like distractions" from his actual work within the EPA. The senators cited repeated requests for a set of recommendations that OH coal tycoon Robert Murray had given Pruitt in 2017 on rolling back what Murray saw as "anti-coal" policies.

Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt said President Donald Trump's policy changes will have an impact for decades, The Hill is reporting. But don't worry, it's all a part of the changes that the administration is making, according to Pruitt: "There's significant changes happening across, not only at the EPA, but across this administration and it's needed".
