Melania Trump Schedules First Appearance in Weeks-But the Press Won't Attend

WASHINGTON- JULY 20 White House Deputy Chief of Staff Joe Hagin waves after he returned to the White House from Crawford Texas with U.S. President George W. Bush and first lady Laura

On Monday, June 4, the spell was finally broken when Melania attended a White House Memorial Day reception honoring Gold Star families (those who've lost a loved one who served in the military). Out of respect for the families, the White House did not allow journalists to cover the event, meaning the first lady was seen in the flesh only by the families and administration officials who attended.

On May 10, the first couple welcomed home American hostages from North Korea.

U.S. First lady Melania Trump isn't joining her husband at the G7 summit in Quebec this week or planning to accompany him to the expected meeting with North Korea's leader in Singapore the week after, spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham said Sunday. Thank you to those who joined us this evening and to the men and women now serving overseas and to their families, thank you for your service.

The count is officially on to see when Mrs. Trump will step out next.

"Mrs. Trump has always been a strong and independent woman who puts her family and certainly her health above all else", the first lady's statement reportedly said on Monday.

On Global's "The Late Show" Monday night, Stephen Colbert joked about Melania's absence, noting that she still hadn't appeared publicly at the time of the show's recording.

Ever since, her absence has been noticeable - and she even pulled out of attending a presidential retreat with her husband over the weekend.

Stanley Cup finals: Baldwinsville's Alex Tuch robbed by spectacular save
The persistent Knights earned a power play and cut the Caps' lead to 3-2 late in the second on Theodore's shot through traffic. With extra space, Washington strung together several sharp passes culminating in Eller's sixth goal of the postseason.

"Good to see her doing so well", said Ms Greene, whose father was killed in Iraq in 2004. The White House chose not to post any photos of Melania since her surgery.

She also defended the president's decision to impose tariffs on Canada, Mexico and the European Union, saying our steel and aluminum industries are critical to our national security and need to be protected.

A campaign asking "where is Melania?" began on Twitter, with many chiming in with concerns about the mother-of-one to Barron Trump, 12. She spent almost a week in the hospital recovering. The first lady's attendance at the reception on Monday evening ends weeks of fervent speculation as to her whereabouts. These are Gold Star families.

Several 19th century first ladies spent long periods out of view. " she wrote, although this message prompted questions as to whether Melania herself had really written it".

It's still unclear when the first lady will make an appearance in public.

Some said Melania had moved back to NY or was cooperating with special counsel Robert Mueller, head of the main investigation into alleged Russian election meddling that President Trump has branded a "witch hunt".
