Will Power finally wins the Indy 500

Indy 500: Start time, TV channel and live stream

Fans are tweeting support for Danica Patrick after her final race before retirement ended in a crash.

Will Power won a steamy, slick Indianapolis 500 that had engineers and race strategists working every bit as hard as the drivers behind the wheel. "I just said, "Oh I'm so sorry"... but she was all good". But he had just one top-three finish at this race before Sunday, and he screamed after exiting his auto, mouthing "I can't believe it" before dousing his head in milk.

Pole sitter Ed Carpenter finished second, Scott Dixon was third, and 2016 victor Alexander Rossi came from the back of the field to finish fourth. "I wish I could have finished stronger".

"I was wondering if I would ever win here", Power said in a post-race interview on ABC.

TV cameras were panning to Power's wife, Elizabeth, during the race, and she was clearly a nervous wreck. "I can't think of a more cool way to be done". One of her breakout moments came 13 years ago with a fourth-place finish at the 2005 Indy 500, and she regularly competed at the event through 2011.

Chevrolet took complete ownership of the month of May with a pair of poles spread across the Indy Grand Prix and Indy 500, and closed its visit to the Brickyard with two wins by Team Penske's Will Power.

Weinstein to surrender in sexual misconduct probe
Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein has been charged in the U.S. with rape, sex abuse and other crimes against two women. However, it is not clear as of now whether the charges, expected on Friday, will include money mishandling allegations.

"This is just a chapter in the book", Patrick wrote on Instagram.

I said I was proud of him.

It gave team owner Roger Penske a 17th win in the Indy 500 and it was Power's second straight victory this season.

It's always great to be at Indy, but today was a particularly cool day, seeing Will win. ("Please Roger, can I come back", he pleaded with team owner Penske in his television interview.) Fellow Brazilian Tony Kanaan, another former victor who had the lead early in the afternoon, later lost control in turn two and also exited the race.

Kanaan's crash with 12 laps remaining set up a final restart with Oriol Servia out front. Defending race victor Takuma Sato was also knocked out when he ran into the back of a slower auto.

"I honestly was beginning to believe I was never going to win this race", he admitted amid the victory lane celebration.
