SRH vs CSK, IPL 2018

Faf du Plessis

On 22 May, in sweltering Mumbai conditions, Twenty20 cricket fans were in for a masterclass in chasing as South Africa's Faf Du Plessis saw CSK beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by two wickets in Qualifier 1.

But du Plessis caressed three fours and a six as seamer Carlos Brathwaite conceded 20 runs in the 18th over.

His masterclass floored SRH in Qualifier 1 as CSK snatched victory from the jaws of defeat to reach their seventh IPL final.

"Took confidence from that". It reflects the dressing room atmosphere we've been able to create. SRH slipped to 88 for 6 at the end of 15 overs, and it took a late innings blitz from Carlos Brathwaite and his 51-run partnership with Bhuvneshwar Kumar to rescue them to 139-7.

Faf du Plessis is South Africa's own version of "Captain Cool", and he has often proved the same, both in the worldwide circuit and in IPL situations. You have to keep shuffling to know who can do what for you, and at what time. Brathwaite hit one boundary and four sixes in his 29-ball outing. Rashid was a real handful, so just happy to cross the line.

"Haven't spoken to MSD yet, but what I can tell you, is having joined back at CSK and played with him for Rising Pune Supergiant last time, you can really say he wants it this time. So try to get through him as much as you can".

The debate over whether a side's best bowler should bowl the penultimate over of a chase will go on, but Williamson stuck to a plan that has worked in the past. They bowled very well, and there was a bit in it for the fast bowlers.

The phone was originally slated to ship during the first three months of 2018, so it is already late to market. This means the phone can handle 2D, 2D, AR, mixed reality and VR, all without additional hardware or headsets.

"It was unbelievable - Faf du Plessis finding his inner MS Dhoni there at the backend, batting all the way through, taking it right to the end".

However, it was Faf du Plessis who held his nerves and won it for CSK with partners changing at the other end.

After opting to field, CSK did well to restrict the table-toppers SRH to 139-7. "The bowlers were fantastic, we did back our death bowling to close the game from there, but that's not where we want to correct ourselves, I think with the bat we could've taken some better options in the order to get maybe another 15 or 20 runs".

CSK pegged back Sunrisers at 47 for 3 with both Williamson and opener Shikhar Dhawan (0) back in the dugout.

Sunrisers Hyderabad were in the driving seat for the first 17 overs but lost the match in the last 3. Williamson can consider himself unlucky as he was dismissed off a nothing ball - it was short and wide but the Hyderabad captain gloved it to Dhoni.

CSK struck another blow just past the Powerplay period. After returning to dots and singles for a brief while, he once exploded in the fourteenth when he collected a four and a six off consecutive deliveries off Shakib al Hasan. The CSK captain had failed to read the googly and CSK were 40-4 in eight overs.

Then Bravo pulled off a stunner, pouching on to a low full-blooded drive from Pathan. Since Jadeja's wicket in the 13th over, du Plessis faced six off the next nine balls to bring the asking rate down to ten off the last six overs.
