For Mackenzie Dern, All The Bad Was Worth It At UFC 224

Mackenzie Dern Misses Weight; UFC 224 Fight vs. Amanda Cooper Will Proceed

Mackenzie Dern showed the power in her hands tonight at UFC 224 by flooring Amanda Cooper with an overhand right in the first round, but then it was her renewned submission skills that sealed the deal via rear-naked choke. Considering Cooper is now essentially a "strawweight vs flyweight", it's no wonder Cooper is perturbed with Dern's extra 7.4 pounds.

It was a hard past few weeks for Mackenzie Dern, as the unbeaten fighter failed to make weight for her UFC 224 contest with Amanda Cooper.

Dern hopes that doesn't end up happening but instead she's promised to work with the UFC Performance Institute in Las Vegas to help her get her weight in check ahead of her next fight.

The company also tweeted earlier today that the limited-time game mode, 50v50, has returned to the game. The Infinity Gauntlet mode does not yet have an end date, but these typically run for about a week.

Cooper has agreed to still accept the bout with Dern and will take 30 percent of her fight purse, according to the Brazilian commission.

"The last seven months I fought four times", she said. Sound off PENN Nation! They told me even without a fight, they're going to make me make weight and they're going to stay on me, but that's what I need.

"My manager said the UFC wants me to move up in weight. The UFC is investing in me, and I'm going to work with them to not ever have that happen again". Not that it's not important to me, but I believe in what they're offering me. I'm going to take their help. As seen on the main card of UFC 224 Dern picked up a first-round submission win over Cooper. "I can't lose that opportunity to get all this help from this organization that is so big and it's going to help me make weight".
