Dominant Hamilton wins in Spain, Vettel fourth

Bottas bosses Barcelona opening practice as Hamilton settles for second

It was a fairly straightforward win for Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton.

Mercedes F1 team principal Toto Wolff says that his team is back in business after watching drivers Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas score a ideal one-two finsh at the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix on Sunday.

The victory bodes well for Mercedes for the rest of the season as the performances in Barcelona - where most teams bring significant vehicle updates - usually set the tone for the rest of the races on the European portion of the calendar. "Let's keep this up".

The Briton's teammate Valtteri Bottas secured a one-two for Mercedes at the Circuit de Catalunya, while Max Verstappen completed the podium despite finishing the race with a broken front wing on his Red Bull.

The German had been running second when called in for a second pit stop by Ferrari, having complained of fading tyres, but the decision cost him and Vettel finished fourth, behind Red Bull's Max Verstappen.

For the British driver and Mercedes this was the controlled and perfectly orchestrated race they have craved all season.

He said, "Today I felt a synergy with the vehicle that I hadn't been feeling all year". "It's a good feeling".

Having looked solid throughout the weekend, Saturday's pole sitter recorded his 64th career win, ensuring Ferrari stood no chance against an invincible Mercedes team that delivered an error-free weekend.

"I remember like it was yesterday sitting at home playing this computer game as Michael", Hamilton said.

Ivanka Trump arrives in Israel ahead of USA embassy move
Since March 30, the Palestinians have been organizing protests, demonstrations and rallies calling it "the Great March of Return". Furthermore the name change, despite President Trump's historic decision to move the US Embassy, comes under intense scrutiny.

"For tomorrow though I think we should be in the mix". He has some serious records. "This weekend, we got ourselves on the right path. I locked up into turn one and I never got the grip that I was looking for".

Daniel Ricciardo was fifth, ahead of Kevin Magnussen, Carlos Sainz, Fernando Alonso, Sergio Perez and Charles Leclerc.

Bottas, meanwhile, had to regain P2 after losing out to Scuderia Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel on the start, with Vettel getting ahead and into second. "Friday, Saturday was more hard and on Valtteri we were taking the tire pretty far".

Vettel gave away his position when Ferrari chose to go for an extra stop and give the German driver fresher tires.

"We were going through the tyres quicker than the others, though obviously it looks different and looks wrong".

Valtteri Bottas finished second to give Mercedes their first one-two finish of the season and help the team reclaim the lead in the constructors' championship from Ferrari. Vettel won in Australia and Bahrain, while Ricciardo was first in China and Hamilton triumphed in Azerbaijan. Again, Haas will be left wondering what might have been if both cars had stayed in the race after Romain Grosjean spun out on the opening lap. In China, he couldn't manage more than eighth place after an ill-timed safety vehicle and a subsequent collision caused by Max Verstappen.

"It was definitely the closest it's been to some of the performances we had past year".

"But we could easily go to the next race and struggle and be nowhere. I don't think it affected me too much", Verstappen said.

"I'll have a good sleep and come back tomorrow fresh, anything is possible", he said. Vettel's teammate Kimi Raikkonen was forced to retire his Ferrari with an engine problem on lap 25.
