Doctors hit Trump's 'war zone' comments on London crime

President Trump compared a hospital in London to a military war zone hospital

Each country can freely decide its own legislation on gun control.

Terrorists armed with assault rifles and suicide vests struck outside a France-Germany football match at the national stadium, cafes and bars, and the Bataclan concert hall in a coordinated assault that left 130 people dead and more than 350 wounded.

"They took their time and gunned them down one by one - boom, come over here, boom, come over here, boom", he said. Boom. Come over here.

"Free circulation of weapons in society does not constitute a rampart against terrorist attacks, to the contrary, it can facilitate...this type of attack", he said in a statement last Saturday.

In March, hundreds of thousands of people rallied the streets of the United States capital for the "March for Our Lives", calling for stricter gun control in the country.

"Our reaction is first of all disgust over unacceptable clowning around", its leader Philippe Duperron told the Huffpost website while asking for "an official reaction".

Former French president Francois Hollande called Trump's remarks "shameful" and said they "said a lot about what he (Trump) thinks of France and its values".

In response to the president's words, former French president Fran├žois Hollande harshly rebuked Trump's "shameful" remarks.

Even former French president Francois Hollande and ex-prime minister Manuel Valls took to Twitter to express their disapproval of the statements made by the USA president. "What more is there to say?"

Lava spews from Hawaii's Kilauea volcano
National Park Service officials have shut down 16,000 acres of the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park as a precaution. The government issued a state of emergency and called in the Hawaii National Guard to help with the evacuations.

Dr. Martin Griffiths, a trauma surgeon at London's Barts Health NHS Trust, in April said colleagues who had served in the military likened the hospital's daily case load - including an influx of children who were victims of violent crime - to that seen at Camp Bastion Hospital, in Afghanistan.

The comments provoked anger in both France and Britain.

Stabbings in the British capital have been on the increase this year.

President Donald Trump is scheduled to visit London on July 13.

"They don't have guns". Prof Karim Brohi, a fellow surgeon at the hospital, noted this weekend that the hospital has been working to reduce violence and to cut the number of returning knife violence patients.

"They say it's as bad as a military war zone hospital".

"Knives, knives, knives", Trump added as he made a stabbing motion.

London suffered a spike in knife crime early this year, and saw more murders during February and March than NY.
