Adelaide loses worldwide cricket on Australia Day

Adelaide loses international cricket on Australia Day

CA has again offered to play the BCCI for day-night matches.

India will tour Australia later this year for the four-Test series which begins with the game in Adelaide on December 6.

For the past three years, Adelaide has hosted a day-night Test. CA did not declare the match timings for India's opening Test, taking a similar approach as they did against South Africa in 2016, where the timings were announced almost two months after confirmation of the dates. "Our preference is to go with a day-night test... the day-night tests have been a phenomenal success for us and I think to have the first ever day-night test between India and Australia would be a massive success".

"If you look at the last Test match played there during the Ashes series we had over 200,000 people there".

Cricket Australia chief executive James Sutherland said earlier in the summer the Gabba's place in the national pecking order had fallen and this schedule is proof of that.

Canberra's Manuka Oval will host its maiden Test when Australia round out their home summer of cricket in game two against Sri Lanka from February 1.

United Kingdom government suffers Brexit defeat
David Davis told the Lords EU committee he was "not at all sure" there will be agreement on the "border backstop" by June. But the Lords heavily voted for Parliament to be given a more decisive say on the outcome of the Brexit negotiations.

Cricket Australia were hoping to convince the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to play a day-night Test at Adelaide in India's tour of Australia later this year but the Indian players and team management have said that they are not ready yet to play pink ball cricket.

Day-night Test has had been part of the Cricket Australia's summer fixture for the last few seasons and Australia's record in "twilight" home Tests so far is fabulous. The Proteas lost by seven wickets.

The one day internationals will be played between 12 and 18 January.

Instead the Gabba will host the first of two Tests against Sri Lanka, a day-nighter from January 24 which runs over the Australia Day long weekend. India, it is learnt, are also reluctant to have day-night Tests in the nine-team World Test Championship to be played from 2019.

Warren Deutrom, chief executive of Cricket Ireland, confirmed the details of the largest broadcast rights package in Irish cricket history, which incorporates match coverage on networks in countries including the U.S. and Australia.
