US must focus on the big picture before entering Iran's oily waters

Yesh Atid head Yair Lapid leads a faction meeting in the Israeli parliament

JCPOA sets up limits on Iranian nuclear actions in exchange for the suspension of financial sanctions against Iran by the West.

The presentation, based on a cache of stolen Iranian documents, capped a long campaign by Netanyahu to kill the global agreement to curb Iran's nuclear program. As former United States president Barack Obama famously stated, the deal "is not based on trust".

Israel's Mossad intelligence service broke into the anonymous Tehran building that housed Iran's secret nuclear files and smuggled half a ton of documents and compact discs back to Israel the same night.

Merkel told reporters on Wednesday that "it's very important the information which came from Israel is made available to the IAEA very quickly so that an examination can take place there".

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned on Thursday against scrapping an global deal on Iran's nuclear programme unless there was a good alternative in place.

The US has accepted Israel's claims that Iran has lied about its 2015 nuclear agreement with the world's major powers even as Washington's European allies rallied behind the deal created to prevent Tehran from developing an atomic bomb.

UK PM May Replaces Minister As Immigration Scandal Widens
Challenged on whether she would remove the target, Ms Rudd said: "I have not discussed that with the Prime Minister". Green Party co-leader Caroline Lucas tweeted: "PM loses her human shield and now looks very exposed herself".

Netanyahu stated that the evidence of Iran's nuclear ambitions has been turned over to the United States.

He also added, "The United States is with Israel in this fight, and we strongly support Israel's sovereign right to defend itself". Given Iran's penchant for lying (confirmed by the seizure of the documents) and its increased aggressive stance and malign influence on five continents, these demands are quite reasonable.

A senior adviser to Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei also warned Europeans on Thursday over "revising" the nuclear deal, under which Iran strictly limited its enrichment of uranium to help allay fears this could be put to producing atomic bomb material, and won major sanctions relief in return.

Those who are in favor of the nuclear agreement have indicated that Netanyahu's presentation did not amount to anything significant. They have no concern for nuclear proliferation but instead have an interest in the expansion of their own political domination of the region. "In contrast, the US has consistently violated the agreement, especially by bullying others from doing business with Iran". Iran has continually lied about its nuclear programs as well as its intentions. Israel responded by destroying 1/3 to 1/2 of Syria's surface-to-air missile batteries and further struck four Iranian bases.

Trump has threatened to scrap the nuclear agreement as soon as 12 May if Britain, France and Germany do not agree to wholesale changes. "They must have manufactured pieces of equipment in Iran. So I think we should separate things".

Honoring the pact would burnish the President's credibility in talks with North Korea, where credibility may be crucial: Kim Jong Un has signaled he will "denuclearize" if the US promises not to invade.
