Rafael Nadal breezes past Tsitsipas to win 11th 'Godo' of his career

Stefanos Tsitsipas lost his shoe midway through a rally during his semi-final match with Pablo Carreno Busta

On the heels of an 11th Monte Carlo title, Nadal on Sunday won an 11th Barcelona title, steamrolling Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-2, 6-1 in the final of the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell. "I know Andreas very well because we are friends, I have practiced with him for so many years".

The 16-time grand slam champion stretched his incredible winning streak on the red surface to 19 matches and 46 consecutive sets by thrashing surprise package Tsitsipas 6-2 6-1 in only 78 minutes.

"It was emotional. I could never have dreamed of having a career like this", said Nadal after a compilation of his career success was shown to the crowd following the win. "I'm just enjoying every week and the fact I'm playing in a tournament that I enjoy so much means a lot to me", Nadal said, as quoted by ATP's official website.

The top-ranked Spaniard will face 19-year-old Stefanos Tsitsipas, the first Greek player to make it to an ATP Tour final in 45 years.

It's two "und├ęcimas" down, one more to go for Rafael Nadal, who's now captured 11 career titles in Monte Carlo and Barcelona, and has a great shot at an unprecedented 11th French Open.

Tonight: Partly cloudy - low around 65 with south wind 10 to 14 miles per hour gusting as high as 24 miles per hour . Sunday also will be mostly sunny but slightly cooler with a high temperature expected to be around 67 degrees.

Nadal, wearing just shorts and socks sprinted and jumped into the pool alongside the delighted ball kids. He has won a record 54 titles on the dirt.

Speaking after his win yesterday, Nadal said: "I'm very happy for the victory against a very hard opponent".

But that proved to be as good as it would get for the the youngest Barcelona finalist since Nadal in 2005. They were quickly saved by Nadal who then claimed the title on a third match point in the seventh game when the teenager dumped aone-handed backhand into the net.

On beating Tsitsipas, Nadal added: "First of all I would like to say thank you to Stefan".

"It has been impossible for me to stop Nadal, I've tried but I could not, it's been a great lesson", he said.
