Mueller has dozens of questions for Trump

The two leaders also met in the Oval Office to discuss a range of bilateral issues earlier in the day.

Robert Mueller wants to ask US President Donald Trump "at least four dozen questions" about a number of subjects regarding alleged ties with Russian Federation and the suspected obstruction of justice, The New York Times reports, citing a list of questions that it managed to obtain.

Take Mueller's apparent focus on the firings of former FBI director James Comey and former national security adviser Michael Flynn and whether those amount an attempt to obstruct the investigation.

"Witch Hunt!" Trump tweeted.

"What did you know about phone calls that Mr. Flynn made with the Russian ambassador, Sergey I. Kislyak, in late December 2016?" reads one question.

As the Times reports, "Mueller has sought for months to question the president, who has in turn expressed a desire, at times, to be interviewed, viewing it as an avenue to end the inquiry more quickly".

D'Antonio goes on to speculate that someone on Trump's team leaked the questions as a way to get Trump's attention and show him just how serious the Mueller probe into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election is for the president.

Russian Federation has repeatedly denied allegations that it meddled in the United States election, calling the accusations "absurd".

Assad, Iranian official meet in Syrian capital
The Syrian Human Rights Observatory (based in London) reported that 26 people were killed in this attack, Iranians among them. Israel has not confirmed responsibility for the attack but Russian Federation and Damascus have held Tel Aviv responsible.

"It would seem very hard to obstruct justice for a crime that never happened!"

"An investigation that started focused on Russia's efforts to influence the election, ties between Trump's campaign and Russian Federation, is now predominantly focused on obstruction", said Schmidt.

The questions also touch on Russian meddling and whether the Trump campaign coordinated in any way with the Kremlin. The lawyers want to resolve the investigation as quickly as possible, but there's no agreement on how to do that.

Although Mueller's team has indicated to Trump's lawyers that he's not considered a target, investigators remain interested in whether the president's actions constitute obstruction of justice and want to interview him about several episodes in office.

"Oh, I see.you have a made up, phony crime, Collusion, that never existed, and an investigation begun with illegally leaked classified information".

"What was your opinion of Mr. Comey during the transition?" another Mueller question asks. While there's no requirement in place mandating a sitting president be a legal scholar beyond reproach, Trump's interpretation of the law should leave little doubt that he's absolutely clueless when it comes to the laws he's commenting on.

Mr Manafort also reportedly offered to give a government-connected Russian billionaire a briefing about the campaign in July 2016.
