Police in Oz, as well as state officials in Cameroon, have been officially notified.

Cameroon Chef de Mission Victor Agbor Nso has confirmed a third of the country's athletes competing at the Commonwealth Games here have gone missing.

The other missing athletes are boxers Christian Ndzie Tchoyi, Simplice Fotsala, Christelle Ndiang and Arsene Fokou and weightlifters Oliver Heracles Matam Matam, Petit David Minkoumba and Arcangeline Sonkbou Fouodji.

One who failed to appear was Ulrich Rodrigue Yombo who skipped Wednesday morning's weigh-in for his quarter-final bout in the 81kg division against Canada's Harley O'Reilly.

"These athletes. were part of a team that had a training camp before getting to Gold Coast", he said in a statement.

"All of our athletes have worked extremely hard to represent our country in their chosen sport at this year's Commonwealth Games and we are very proud of them", Ms Kaye says.

The first two left the athletes village on Sunday night, followed by three more on Monday before the last two went missing on Tuesday night.

"Nobody said anything, they did not give any condition, they just left", he said.

"We would appreciate them sticking within the law, enjoying themselves, but sticking within the law", Beattie said.

Cameroon officials are still working with the Australian Border Force to locate their eight missing athletes.

Cameroon officials on Wednesday made a decision to fly 14 athletes, including the entire 12-man basketball team, home immediately after they had completed their competitions.

"While the athletes are free to travel within Australia, we share the concern of the Cameroon Commonwealth Games Association of the safety, welfare and whereabouts of the athletes".

A further eight athletes from Cameroon have also disappeared from the event.
