Is Richie Sambora returning to Bon Jovi? Depends on who you ask

Howard Stern is on his way to Cleveland

Dire Straits' Guy Fletcher gave Cleveland a big shout-out during his speech at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony Saturday.

R&B superstar Mary J. Blige welcomed Simone into the Rock Hall, and R&B singer Andra Day performed in her honor.

During a 20-minute speech, Jon Bon Jovi recounted the band's rise to superstardom from basements to sold-out arenas. (Meanwhile, Mark's brother David said his own absence was due to the Rock Hall "reneging" on its promise to pay his full travel bills, while drummer Pick Withers also hasn't commented publicly.) Members of a band skipping the ceremony for personal reasons isn't inherently unusual for the Rock Hall, but this year, something changed - the inclusive spirit of the induction took a full 180 when the participating Straitsmen came on stage, as the two fundamental tenets of the process were completely eschewed.

"We took that journey together at certain times as a group, and I think it's wonderful we can re-enact that - not only for us, but for the fans", said Bon Jovi keyboardist David Bryan back in February.

Sambora, who left the New Jersey band in 2013, and Alec John Such, who left in 1994, embraced their former bandmates after each spoke onstage to accept the honor.

The original group, along with current members Phil X, John Shanks and Everett Bradley, then teamed up to perform You Give Love a Bad Name, It's My Life, When We Were Us and Livin' on a Prayer. Bon Jovi, one of the six acts getting inducted, dominated the ceremony, making it so that the event appealed more to the band's fans than to the fans of the other acts being inducted (Dire Straits, for example, who received very little stage time).

'Mission Accomplished' in Syria, Trump declares on Twitter
Wednesday: Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Russian military inspectors found no evidence of a chemical attack. Any US strike would probably involve the Navy, given the risk to aircraft from Russian and Syrian air defenses.

Each year, between five and seven acts usually make it into the Rock Hall following a vote by 1,000 people, including performers, music historians and industry experts.

Simone, who died in 2003, was a leader in pushing for civil rights and influenced everyone from Aretha Franklin to Alicia Keys.

Benjamin Orr passed away after a battle with pancreatic cancer in 2000, four years before The Cars were eligible for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame honors.

Alabama Shake's Brittany Howard paid tribute to Sister Rosetta Tharpe with a powerful performance of "That's All" and "Strange Things Happening Every Day". The event also saw the band's reunion with former member Richie Sambora, who shared a microphone with the band's lead singer on 'When We Were Us'. "I've actually written it many ways, many times".

Jon Bon Jovi began: "I've been writing this speech since I first strummed the broom and sang at the top of the stairs of my childhood home".

The group then played "I'm Just a Singer in a Rock and Roll Band, ' 'Wildest Dreams, ' 'Nights in White Satin" and 'Ride My See Saw.' The ceremony will be aired in the U.S. by HBO on 5 May. Howard Stern presided over the presentation for the ceremony.
