Medics at the scene in the Rafah area said four Palestinians were killed by an Israeli tank shell but an Israeli military spokesman said the army was not involved.

Islamic Jihad said all four were killed "during preparations" without elaborating, implying they were preparing an attack against Israel.

A 28-year-old Palestinian man died on Friday evening after succumbing to wounds sustained earlier in the day, when he was shot in the stomach by Israeli forces during the ongoing "Great March of Return" across the eastern border of the Gaza Strip.

Hirzallah was injured with a live bullet in the stomach during protests in eastern Gaza City, and was later pronounced dead at the al-Shifa Hospital.

Protests at Gaza Strip began on March 30 with more than 30,000 protesters and are expected to continue until April 19, Israel's Independence Day.

The Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) on Saturday pressed for a speedy worldwide investigation into the "Israeli aggression" against Palestinian protestors in the Gaza Strip.

On Friday, one Palestinian was killed and 233 were wouned by live israeli fire as more than 10,000 protested along the Israel-Gaza border, burning tires and Israeli flags, the Gaza Health Ministry said. But the Palestinians mark it as "Day of Catastrophe" because a large number of them have been forced to leave their homes.
