Houthi rebels launch drone strike on Saudi-owned oil facility

Yemen rebel missiles, drones shot down over Saudi

Al Masirah, a TV network run by the Houthis, claimed responsibility for the attack on Twitter, saying the rebels fired a Burkan 2-H, a Scud-type missile, towards the Saudi defence ministry.

Last month, one man was killed in Riyadh by debris after the military shot down a flurry of missiles, the first casualty of the Yemen war in the Saudi capital.

Saudi Arabia said it intercepted a ballistic missile over Riyadh and shot down two drones in another part of the country on Wednesday (April 11), in the latest attacks by Iranian-backed Yemeni rebels showing improved military capabilities more than three years into the conflict.

Videos published on social media showed clouds of smoke in the sky above the capital.

The battle between Saudi Arabia and Yemen, now in its third 12 months, began in March 2015 when a Saudi-led coalition intervened on behalf of its southern neighbor to help the fragile authorities of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

Adreian Payne and Keith Appling, members of that 2015 team, were among the names that surfaced in the ESPN report . The room then went dark and she was allegedly thrown face down on the bed and held in place, unable to move.

Al Masirah also reported the Houthis fired missiles at oil storage facilities belonging to Saudi oil giant Aramco in the provinces of Najran and Jizan.

Colonel Turki al-Maliki, the spokesman for the Arab Coalition Forces fighting in Yemen, said that at 7:40 am local time air defense systems detected an object and dealt with it accordingly.

The group unveiled what it said was a series of drones, including the Qasef-1, at a ceremony previous year.

Qasef 1 is a drone aircraft previously unveiled by the militant rebel group.

The Houthis have repeatedly targeted the kingdom in retaliation for its offensive inside Yemen.
