Korean diplomat reaffirms commitment to 'phased, synchronized' denuclearization

Trump signals timeline for North Korea summit could slip

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on Monday provided a "profound analysis" on the prospect of dialogue between the DPRK and the US, the state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on Tuesday.

US President Donald Trump has said that he expects to meet North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in May or early June.

It was not known what such measures would entail, but Kim's reported remarks have led some analysts to suspect that he may call for removing the US nuclear umbrella for South Korea, a key USA ally in Asia, and withdrawing American troops from the country - conditions deemed as nonstarters for Washington. He would also likely insist that the United States end its commitment to "extended deterrence" in South Korea and Japan - its threat of nuclear retaliation if its allies in Asia come under attack from North Korea. The South Korean president's office announced that Seoul and Pyongyang had reached a historic agreement on holding the third ever summit of the countries' leaders in late April.

That was the first time Kim has left the North since assuming power in 2011 and was also his first meeting with another head of state.

Previously, the leadership of North Korea informed the us administration about the readiness of DPRK leader Kim Jong-UN to discuss the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

Though the CIA as a choice to lead diplomatic outreach to North Korea might seem odd at first glance, President Donald Trump has chosen to nominate current CIA Director Mike Pompeo to take over at the State Department.

According to multiple reports over the weekend, Kim Jong Un has agreed to discuss denuclearization at the meeting.

Many have even wondered if Mayweather will come out of retirement at all. "But if I do come back it has to be in the octagon". FLOYD MAYWEATHER has hit out at old foe Conor McGregor , saying that he "needs to carry himself like a gentleman".

After Trump's shock March announcement that he had accepted an invitation to meet the reclusive North Korean leader, there have been doubts about whether the talks will go ahead.

Speaking before a Cabinet meeting at the White House Monday, President Trump said the meeting will happen in May or June.

They appear, however, to be much more low-key this year. "I think it's going to be a very exciting thing for the world", he continued. There was no immediate word on the possible venue for the talks, which would be the first ever between a sitting USA president and North Korean leader. He did not clarify where the session might take place.

Over the weekend, USA media reported that the United States and North Korea are holding secret, direct talks ahead of the planned summit between the two leaders.

Beyond that, a detailed agenda for the talks will need to be set.

For the better part of past year, North Korea continued to defy worldwide officials' pleas to cease countless nuclear missile and bomb tests, even going so far as to threaten the US territory of Guam after fierce words from Trump demanding a halt to their increased military activity.
