Donald Trump denies knowledge of lawyer's payment to porn star

Daniels also signed a non-disclosure agreement.

US President Donald Trump said he doesn't know about money paid to actress Stephanie Clifford, who uses the stage name Stormy Daniels who claims she had an affair with him. This is the first time the president has commented publicly on the issue. "Michael's my attorney and you'll have to ask Michael", Trump responded.

"You'll have to ask Michael Cohen", he said.

Last month Ms Daniels filed a lawsuit against the president, alleging that the non-disclosure agreement was invalid because Mr Trump did not sign it.

The president was also asked where the money came from to pay the former Playboy model, to which he answered: "I don't know".

When he was then asked if he knew about the payments to Daniels shortly before the 2016 U.S. presidential election, Trump said: "No".

Sinclair Executive Chairman Lashes Out at Print Media Calling It 'Meaningless Dribble'
The message calls out supposed bias and false messages in news stories spread on social media and in various unnamed news outlets. Adam Schiff of California, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, wrote Monday on Twitter .

In case you missed it, Trump said while returning from West Virginia on Air Force One late Thursday afternoon that he didn't know about the $130,000 payment.

Daniels' attorney, Michael Avenatti, said Thursday his client's case "just got that much better" with the president's on-the-record comments.

"As history teaches us", he added, "it is one thing to deceive the press and quite another to do so under oath".

Fortunately, the reporter in the above clip never asked Trump about Stormy's claim that she spanked the real estate mogul with a copy of Forbes.

She recently appeared on CBS' "60 Minutes" and claimed Cohen orchestrated a payment to keep her quiet during the election.
