Narendra Modi betrayed Andhra Pradesh by denying special status, says Chandrababu Naidu

Telugu Desam party Chief N Chandrababu Naidu will be arriving in Delhi tonight

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA government at the Centre of betraying the people of his state and entertaining political parties that are tainted. YSR Congress is there.

Since the TDP snapped ties with the NDA over failure of the Centre to grant special category state status to Andhra Pradesh, Naidu has held talks with leaders of the TMC, NCP, DMK, AIADMK, SP and BSP.

He said the real goal of Naidu to come to Delhi was not seeking the support of the other parties for securing benefits for Andhra Pradesh, but to meet people who mattered for him to get out of the cases.

Naidu on Tuesday met Hema Malini, Jayant Sinha of the BJP and leaders of some NDA allies. "That is why I took a decision", said Naidu. Naidu said. "Ambition to grow is one thing but doing things this way is not acceptable, not a correct approach". Responding to a question on Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal's recent statement on the TDP government was not giving an account of Centre's aid, Naidu said that the NDA government did not have any problem with him till he was a part of their alliance, but now that he parted ways, they were raising baseless allegations. He also met leaders from different parties to generate support over getting Special Category Status (SCS) for Andhra Pradesh.

They changed the perception of when you say Loyola-Chicago, for men's basketball, they changed that, the perception of it. ... They look confident, prepared, and unphased by anything positive or negative said about them by the press.

What has further united the opposition parties is the change of reference population from the 1971 Census to the 2001 Census under the 15th Finance Commission, due to which big states like Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and West Bengal would each loose approximately Rs 20,000 crore each year.

With just two days to go to Parliament, it is obvious that the non-confidence motion can not be taken up. "We don't even attack our erstwhile friends in unfriendly manner", he said. "The Congress is exclusively responsible for the plight of Andhra Pradesh".

Meanwhile, national media has asked Chandrababu about joining the "National Front", to which Naidu made it clear that his priority is to gather support from all major political parties for according Special Category Status to AP. "We discussed how frustrating it is for members of Parliament from Andhra Pradesh", CPI (M) leader Mohammad Salim said after meeting Naidu. "We said we are all with him.We should all combine the issues and take on the government on the floor of the house rather than going to the well".
