FX Ends Donald Glover's Animated 'Deadpool' Series Over 'Creative Differences'

FX Pulls the Plug On Marvel's Deadpool Animated TV Series From Donald Glover

The Deadpool project already had heavy hitters such as Floyd County, the animation house behind FXX's Archer series, on board to handle the animation production. Additionally, if Deadpool 2 is anywhere near as successful as the original film, FX may realize how cost-effective it would be to revamp their developed plans for the series and get back to work on delivering the animated show.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Atlanta" creator Donald Glover and his writer brother Stephen Glover will no longer be involved in the adult action-comedy animated series based on Deadpool, which they were supposed to write and executive produce.

FX cited "creative differences" for the split and reaffirmed the network its still working with Marvel TV on Legion, Variety reports.

'Captain Marvel' starts filming, Clark Gregg role confirmed
Los Angeles will serve as the film's primary production home, but it will also shoot in Fresno, California and Louisiana. However, though Coulson has been alive for roughly five years in the MCU, he hasn't returned to the films.

Another wrinkle in that is in 2017 Donald Glover signed an overall deal with FX - with Deadpool as the centerpiece of that announcement. It is unknown if Marvel TV and ABC Studios will try and pursue the project at this time. In a statement shared by FX, it does appear that the project could still be happening but not with their network or Glover involved. The rights to the Deadpool character are owned by Fox, so that means a Fox production entity has to be the one to make the show. In addition to the critically praised Atlanta, which recently returned for a second season after a lengthy hiatus, he has the Han Solo movie coming up as well as the animated The Lion King. Until its definitive cancellation, it could still move forward with the acquisition of key staff and a new distributing TV network.

It's such unfortunate news for "Deadpool" fans.

While we might have to wait a good long time before the Merc with a Mouth arrives in animated form, there are less than two months to wait before Ryan Reynolds returns in the highly-anticipated movie sequel.
