First nonstop Australia to London flight touches down
It is the world's second-longest flight after a Qatar Airways service between Doha and Auckland that covers 9,028 miles, or just 19 miles more than the stretch from Perth to London.
It is part of Qantas's ambitious plans to add ultra long-haul flights to its schedules.
"The last frontier of global aviation. the antidote to the tyranny of distance and a revolution for air travel in Australia", The Telegraph quoted Qantas chief executive Alan Joyce as saying past year.
The airline is using the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, which is twice as fuel-efficient as the Boeing 747.
This will eventually include non-stop flights from Australia's eastern seaboard to Europe in an effort dubbed "Project Sunrise".
History has been made following the departure of Qantas' first Perth to London flight on Saturday night.

To minimise the discomfort of such a long flight, the plane has been equipped with improved air quality and lower cabin noise, the BBC reported.
The airline said the inaugural flight reduced total travel time by cutting out stopovers and by taking advantage of favorable winds on any given day without having to factor in a midpoint in the Middle East or Asia when choosing a flight path.
The flight is also expected boost tourism on Western Australia's less populated western coast - which is often neglected by tourists as it can be more hard to travel to than the east.
The airline unveiled plans for the world's longest non-stop commercial flight, for the "last frontier of global aviation", back in August a year ago.
