Congress gives itself a BONUS in omnibus

Speaker of the House Paul Ryan R-Wis. takes questions from reporters about the massive government spending bill moving through Congress on Capitol Hill in Washington Thursday

Update: Trump signed the bill Friday afternoon after threatening to veto it. Politico reported on Thursday that the president was in favor of the bill, but on Friday he tweeted that he might veto it due to the fact that the bill did not include funding for a border wall. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) told CBN News, "We should just stick things in and make them vote against it".

Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, R-Wis., speaks during a news conference about the massive government spending bill moving through Congress, on Capitol Hill in Washington, Thursday, March 22, 2018.

"My highest duty is to keep America safe, nothing more important", Trump said.

Ingraham said that he should instead "stand up" to the leadership, and promise not to sign the bill unless it includes full funding for the border wall and "total defunding of sanctuary cities".

While many Republicans have chosen to ally themselves with RNC leadership, principled conservatives like Mr. Paul & Mr. Massie have taken note of the hypocritical message that finds Republicans, not Democrats, actively lobbying to raise budget spending.

Trump only reluctantly backed the bill he would have to sign, according to Republican lawmakers and aides, who acknowledged the deal involved necessary trade-offs for the Democratic votes that were needed for passage despite their majority lock on Congress. "I'm not going to do it again", said the Commander-in-Chief.

"The FY18 Omnibus Appropriations bill makes critical investments in education programs that help principals better serve students", said NAESP's executive director, Dr. L. Earl Franks, CAE.

"It's not right and it's very bad for our country", he said.

Today, President Trump signed the Omnibus Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2018, that includes an extension of the EB-5 program until September 30, 2018, along with the Conrad 30 program for foreign doctors and the Special Immigrant Religious Workers program. Trump also lambasted Democrats for not addressing a program that protects hundreds of thousands of undocumented children, otherwise known as the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

How about this, the bill funded Planned Parenthood, National Public Radio and an underground tunnel project pushed by Democratic Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of NY. "A year ago alone, we lost four times as many service members in accidents, in training exercises as we did in combat".

Legislation on guns is also expected to be included, which could open-up the door to federally funded research on gun violence and big reforms to the national background check system.
