Bumped passenger scores $10K flight voucher after Twitter tirade

Bumped United passenger walks away with $10000 voucher

But she was even more excited when she received a $10,000 travel voucher from the airline after she was asked to give up her seat on an overbooked flight.

The United passenger, a communications director named Allison Preiss, was on a flight Thursday morning preparing to depart from Washington Dulles International Airport when crew members informed travelers the flight was overbooked. However, she was reportedly kept from boarding the flight because there was not room and she paid the lowest fare for her ticket.

Ms Preiss told The Associated Press she was waiting to board a flight to Austin, Texas, for a bachelorette party - and was concerned that she'd be kicked off, as the lowest fare passenger. When she asked why she had to sign it because she said she had been "involuntarily bumped", she said a United employee gave her a pamphlet and explained what she was entitled to under airline regulations and the federal law. "TEN THOUSAND", she wrote, sharing photo evidence of the massive buyout.

The United Airlines terminal is viewed at Newark Liberty Airport on July 8, 2015 in Newark, New Jersey. She was later told that she was bumped because there was a broken seat on the plane.

A spokesman for United Airlines confirmed Friday that a passenger got the big voucher, but he didn't name the person.

Trump tells Saudi prince he will work on arms deal
"The relationship now is probably as good as it's really ever been and I think will probably only get better". But if these niggles turn into full disputes, it is likely to be only behind closed doors.

Eventually, United upped its offer to a $10,000 voucher, the maximum amount the company allows.

She took it. Along with two $10 meal vouchers. They just offered me $10,000 in travel credit.

Ms Preiss tweeted as the drama unfolded.

The airline also tossed in a perk, she said. "I am going to go INSANE at Pizza Hut".
