United Airlines flight diverted after third pet incident

Dog mistakenly sent to Japan returns home to Kansas

A United flight headed to St. Louis was diverted to Akron, Ohio, after the airline mistakenly loaded a pet onto the flight.

In the same week that a French bulldog apparently suffocated on a United flight and the airline wrongly sent a German Shepard to Japan, a flight had to be diverted because a pet was put on the wrong plane. Flight 3996 banked toward northeast OH after the airline "chose the fastest option to reunite the dog with his family", Noonan said. The pet has been safely delivered to its owner.

United said in a statement that the flight attendant did not realize the dog was inside the carrier because she did not hear the passenger's warning.

Ian Petchenic, a spokesman for the flight-data company Flightradar24, said the flight averages about two hours. On Monday, a flight attendant made a passenger store her dog in an overhead bin on a flight from Houston.

Things just got even worse for United Airlines.

Lillard, an All-Star, is leading the National Basketball Association during that stretch in total points (325) and 3s (44). The Cavaliers and their opponents' final score has beaten the Over/Under 3 times, while falling under 4 times.

The dog, named Irgo, had quite an adventure when he was accidently flown to Japan and not Kansas City, Missouri, which was his intended destination.

And the Harris County District Attorney's Office, in Texas, told a local news outlet that its animal-cruelty task force would conduct an investigation into the death.

Irgo arrived on Thursday on a United Airlines corporate jet.

It was the third mishap involving a dog this week.
