Mueller Just Subpoenaed Trump

US stocks pare gains as Mueller weighs

Robert Mueller, the special counsel investigating possible collusion between Russian Federation and Donald Trump's presidential campaign since May 2017 has subpoenaed the Trump Organization, demanding documents related to Russian Federation, according to the New York Times. And though it is standard practice in these sorts of cases for investigators to issue subpoenas, it's not obvious why it would be necessary if the Trump Organization were completely forthcoming with all of the special counsel's requests.

Witnesses interviewed by Mueller have been asked about a possible real estate deal in Moscow, although the Trump Organization has denied having any real estate holdings in Russian Federation, the Times reported.

"Surprising, Trump hasn't tweeted about the subpoena yet, probably because he doesn't know how to spell the word 'subpoena, ' but there are rumors that he may try to fire Robert Mueller, the guy who's investigating him", he quipped. In recent weeks, Mr. Mueller's investigators have questioned witnesses, including an adviser to the United Arab Emirates, about the flow of Emirati money into the United States.

Remember when Trump said that if Mueller started looking at his financial matters in his investigation, that would cross a "red line" and he might put a stop to it?

Yesterday, an attorney for The Trump Organisation said in a statement to The Associated Press that the company has been "fully cooperative" with Mueller's investigation since July 2017. It will certainly be interesting to see where this leads.

Asked yesterday about the subpoena and the president's red line comments made to the Times a year ago, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders referred questions to the Trump Organization. The president declined to say how he would respond if he concluded that the special counsel had crossed that line.

Sessions May Fire McCabe Days Before He's Set to Retire
Fox News has learned that the FBI's Office of Professional Responsibility made the recommendation to terminate McCabe. Firing McCabe could put Sessions in a better position with Trump, but the attorney general would have to act fast.

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D., Calif.) said Thursday if Democrats win back Congress in the 2018 midterms, they'll be forced to investigate not only Russian meddling in the 2016 election but the 2018 one as well because of Republicans inviting more interference.

The Trump Org already gave Mueller a raft of material related to Russian Federation a few months ago, per CNN.

The report of the subpoena came on the day the Trump administration announced it was slapping sanctions on Russia's top spy agencies and more than a dozen individuals for trying to sway the election.

The Trump Organization, which President Donald Trump ran with his family before he entered the White House, played down the significance of any subpoena.

"But, then again, I also never thought a guy who got in a Twitter war with Cher would become President". According to the Times, Mueller's office has shared topics it wants to discuss with the president. The reports mark the first publicly known time that Mueller has demanded documents related to President Donald Trump's businesses.

At the same time, Trump is considering whether to bring on a new lawyer to help represent him in the special counsel's investigation.
