Israeli tanks, aircraft attack besieged Gaza Strip

Operation Protective Edge

There were no Israeli injuries reported in the IED attack.

Israeli tanks shelled a Hamas observation posts in the Gaza Strip on Thursday in retaliation for explosions denotated near the Israel/Gaza border fence, reports Israeli officials. Hamdallah was not injured and left Gaza shortly after incident, Arab media reported.

Later Tuesday, however, Hamdallah spoke with Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh and agreed that Israel and its collaborators were responsible for the attack, Haaretz reported.

The report concluded that the Israeli military's targeting and internal investigations complied with its obligations under worldwide law, with Haaretz noting that "many of its conclusions read like a rebuttal to global criticism of Israeli actions in the Strip during the war". Israeli artillery also fired at least nine shells at an unknown target near a memorial site for terrorists.

Improvised explosive devices have always been a concern for the IDF in Gaza, as they are relatively easy and low-priced to produce and can be set off from afar.

NCAA women's hoops tournament: UConn could play in Albany
Albany is closer to Columbia than Sioux Falls and Stockton, South Carolina's previous regional spots, but it's no Lexington. Duke is the No. 5 seed. "But we've got a long way to go between now and then". "Obviously not", SC coach Dawn Staley said.

Israel's state comptroller, the government watchdog agency, issued a report criticising some aspects of the 2014 assault on the Gaza Strip yesterday, but the conclusions seemed largely created to influence global opinion about the military's conduct.

It should be noted that there were no casualties in this morning's incident, and that the IDF Spokesperson's Unit stated that the forces responded by firing with a tank at Hamas positions.

The area of the attack is a frequent protest ground for Gazan residents.

The Israeli army said at the time that soldiers fired "warning shots" at a number of Palestinians approaching the border fence "in a suspicious manner" but could not confirm Palestinian casualties.
