Dog Dies After Attendant Forces Passenger to Put Carrier In Overhead Bin

Kokito barked for help from the overhead storage bin where his carrier was placed despite protests

Now United is back in the news because a flight attendant stuffed a dog into the overhead luggage compartment where it died, according to CBS News.

News reports point out that data from America's Department of Transportation shows United to be a far more risky way for pets to fly than any other carrier.

"This pattern of animal deaths and injuries is simply inexcusable", he wrote. They kind of treat them like they are luggage. Most infamously, a giant rabbit called Simon travelling from London to the Iowa State Fair died on a United flight, possibly freezing to death because it was subjected to cold temperatures or placed next to dry ice.

United said that despite the puppy owner telling the flight attendant that there was a dog in the carrying case, the flight attendant either did not hear or did not understand that there was a pet in the bag, and "did not knowingly place the dog in the overhead bin". "She felt the dog and she put him up there".

United Airlines issued a statement confirming the incident Tuesday, saying it would "assume full responsibility". The 5-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Lulu died in the cargo hold of the aircraft that was reportedly delayed for two hours.

United acknowledged Wednesday that the customer said there was a dog in the carrier.

"We're not making excuses".

Israeli tanks, aircraft attack besieged Gaza Strip
Israeli artillery also fired at least nine shells at an unknown target near a memorial site for terrorists. Hamdallah was not injured and left Gaza shortly after incident, Arab media reported.

"I write to demand an immediate explanation for the number of animals who have died recently in United Airlines' care..."

But that is not what the family claims. We have notified our customers that their pets have arrived safely and will arrange to return the pets to them as soon as possible.

Owners of the puppy told ABC News that they told the United flight attendant there was a puppy in their soft kennel bag twice before they were forced to stow it in the overhead compartment.

And in another incident, young girls weren't allowed to board a United flight because they were wearing leggings.

To be fair, United is also the largest transporter of animals among US carriers. Some 13 animals also reportedly got injured on a United airline flight.

The dog's death is the latest in a string of alarming customer service incidents for United, including an episode a year ago in which a passenger was dragged screaming off an overbooked flight at O'Hare International Airport in Chicago.

As for the 2017 report, he said, "The overwhelming majority of the incidents were attributed to animals not being acclimated to its crate or the animal having a pre-existing condition we weren't aware of".
