Trump ex-aide Manafort pleads not guilty again, faces July trial

Paul Manafort gets a trial date

Also on Thursday, another of Trump's former campaign managers, Corey Lewandowski, was interviewed by the House of Representatives Intelligence Committee, which has its own investigation into possible Russian election meddling. It's the second case tied to special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation in which Manafort has pleaded not guilty.

The former Trump campaign chairman plead not guilty to bank fraud and other charges stemming from special counsel Robert MuellerRobert Swan MuellerSasse: US should applaud choice of Mueller to lead Russian Federation probe MORE's investigation.

The cases are U.S. v. Manafort, 18-cr-83, U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Virginia (Alexandria), and U.S. v. Manafort, 17-cr-201, U.S. District Court, District of Columbia (Washington). Manafort's trial in Washington begins in September. A grand jury there indicted Manafort on charges that he hid from the Internal Revenue Service tens of millions of dollars he earned advising pro-Russia politicians in Ukraine.

Democrats frustrated saying Lewandowski refused to answer about questions about that Trump tower meeting with Russians. Last week, he denied wrongdoing in a related case in Washington accusing him of money laundering.

Koreas will not march together at Winter Paralympics opening
The IPC had offered both countries the chance to march together under the same conditions as last month's Olympic Winter Games. South Korea is nine hours ahead of the United Kingdom so the Korean Standard Times for the Games are 8pm and 9.50pm.

Manafort then ran the campaign for several months. Prosecutors said they were ready to start the trial in May.

However, the judge agreed that Manafort should still be subject to the less-rigorous home confinement but that he must now wear two wrist bracelets, enabling probation officials based in both Washington and Virginia to monitor his movements. Downing said the charges against Manafort go beyond the authority of Mueller's mandate, and advised the judge he will move to dismiss the case on those grounds.

Citing Manafort's significant wealth, Ellis said the former campaign chairman "manifestly" represented a flight risk in part because of "the substantial period of incarceration" he faced if convicted.
