Walmart Introducing Meal Kits in 2K-plus Stores

Walmart's new prepared meals and meal kits expansion is aimed at expanding its fresh food business

Responding to Amazon's launch of Whole Foods grocery delivery through Amazon Prime Now, the largest USA reatiler Walmart has announced its plans to provide ready to eat meal kits priced between $8 nd $15 at, starting with 250 ourlets today.

Walmart has revealed plans to roll out its new meal kits to more than 2,000 stores this year. The pre-portioned line includes Steak Dijon, Basil Garlic Chicken, Sweet Chili Chicken Stir Fry and Pork Florentine. To make it better, you'll have the option to pick them through the company's Online Grocery Pickup service as well.

Walmart is trying to tap into a business that has gained popularity in recent years as consumers look for convenient options to cook at home.

The one-step heat-and-eat meal kits come in 10 varieties: chicken alfredo, cheesy ravioli bake, meatloaf, spaghetti and meatballs, chicken Parmesan, pulled beef, chicken marsala, curry chicken, pot roast and chicken enchiladas. Thai Curry Chicken and Chicken Fried Rice dishes are in the rotisserie chicken lineup.

James Harden is Wearing a Call of Duty
Now new evidence has surfaced suggesting that the new " Call of Duty " title does exist and it may officially be revealed soon. Activision could also be working on a Battle Royale mode in the new Call of Duty title due to be released this year.

Walmart is rolling out new meal kits in a move to provide simple-to-cook, at-home dinner options.

Meal-kit sales have grown to about $5 billion a year, according to a report from market research firm Packaged Facts, and the industry has been led by startups like Blue Apron and HelloFresh. The company, which has about 4,600 stores in the United States, is already selling them at 250 locations.

Walmart Inc.is the latest big box retailer to join the meal kit movement, following in the footsteps of such companies as Kroger and SuperValu. Those items will remain, according to Lehr. Scrambling to find a meal "puts pressure on a family", he said.

Given the massive scope of Walmart's grocery business, the meals could depress sales at restaurant chains if shoppers may choose to grab a quick and cheap dinner from Walmart.
