Frankie Edgar issues statement on tough UFC 222 loss to Brian Ortega

With Brian "T-City" Ortega now stepping in for the injured Holloway, the featherweight match-up between Frankie Edgar, a former champion, and Ortega, an undefeated prospect, could easily headline a pay-per-view.

Here's a look at what's at stake on the UFC 222 main card.

"If she don't fight (me) in MMA, I don't think she's gonna agree (to) fight (me) in WWE", Cyborg told TMZ Sports on the eve of UFC 222.

Here's the thing: the women's bantamweight division is kind of a mess right now. That sent Edgar to the canvas, two punches followed, but it was already over as the ref called the end to the fight. Wow.

Experience is one of the most underrated attributes a fighter can have.

Justino and White hope the champion's next bout will be against UFC 135-pound champ Amanda Nunes. "When he's cleared and he's ready to fight, we'll make that fight immediately".

Basically, this could very well be a title eliminator, which means you should be paying attention.

Ortega also got his fight on short notice due to Holloway's injury. Another knockout loss could prompt a re-thinking of his future plans. "I'm making history. I'm just humble, and to be able to share the octagon with him is an honor".

Former Oakland Raiders EDGE Aldon Smith checks into rehab
He was later signed by Oakland - and is now still under contract with Raiders organization - but hasn't played since 2015. Smith has been on the suspended list since November 2015 for violating the NFL's policy on substance abuse.

Secondly, I'm not sold on O'Malley as a guy who should be getting a push in the UFC.

"It felt great. This is something that I've always envisioned".

MMA can often be a sport where tensions flare between fans and fighters.

Like the heavyweight clash, this one should be electric, even if there aren't meaningful divisional stakes on the line.

But there is more to it than just that.

McGregor gave Edgar a shoutout, adding that he should have been fighting instead of Ortega. Check out the UFC 222 highlight from the Ortega vs. Edgar fight below.

Edgar (21-6-1) fell straight back, with Ortega jumping in for one last hammerfist before referee Jason Herzog stopped the fight at 4:44.

"I don't know, but for me I think it's going to be too soon", Cyborg said in regards to the May date.
