Son fires Spurs to 2-0 win over Huddersfield

Son Heung-min of Tottenham Hotspur celebrates with his team mates during The Emirates FA Cup Fifth Round Replay between Tottenham Hotspur and Rochdale

Tottenham Hotspur have a lot of players that are heading towards the end of their existing contracts, and who are in line to be offered an improved deal by the club this year.

Huddersfield's chances of defeating Tottenham for the first time since 1956 received a blow when Dele Alli sent Son racing clear of the defense in the 27th minute.

Spurs have to finish the job off against Juventus but they're in the driving seat to advance to the quarter finals of the Champions League and Pochettino wants to make sure they're back in the competition next season when they move into a redeveloped White Hart Lane.

Spurs, who have won their last seven games against Huddersfield in all competitions and are unbeaten in 34 league meetings with promoted teams, rarely looked troubled against a visiting side who lost the reverse fixture 4-0 in September. "I feel so happy, very pleased", Pochettino told Spurs TV.

It was after the impressive Christian Eriksen had seen his free-kick headed against his own post by Mathias Jorgensen that Son gave Spurs the lead.

Then Huddersfield goalkeeper Jonas Lossl saved from Kane from close range after Son's delivery.

Finishing second is the 'bare minimum' for Man United, says Smalling
When asked if he believes people forget how young he is, the 24-year-old said: "Yeah, because I've been in the game for so long". Lukaku, for his long drawn career spanning over 357 games and scoring 167 goals, is yet to bag a trophy in senior football.

It took Huddersfield 53 minutes to pose a treat when substitute Tom Ince latched onto a long ball in behind the Spurs defence and saw his well-struck effort beaten away by Hugo Lloris.

Referee Mike Jones picked up an injury in the warm-up and was replaced by Kevin Friend.

Spurs controlled the game with Son exciting the crowd with a Ricky Villa-style Wembley run while Kane and Alli delivered crosses for each other but both were unable to connect.

Lossl made another good stop on Kane in the 38th minute, collecting the well-protected rebound.

Kane will also start, but like Vertonghen, who rightly had a header disallowed for offside, finished without a goal after shooting just wide when Eriksen found him with a late corner.

Huddersfield Town boss David Wagner has conceded that he can have no complaints following his side's 2-0 loss at Tottenham Hotspur.
