Scotland's Ryan Wilson cited for incident against England

Owen Farrell was at the centre of a pre-match scuffle prior to Scotland defeat

Scotland No 8 Ryan Wilson has been cited for allegedly gouging Nathan Hughes during Saturday's Calcutta Cup thriller at Murrayfield.

So Farrell won't be prevented from playing for England against France on Saturday week, but perhaps the incident will subconsciously influence the Six Nations disciplinary committee when Wilson appears before them tomorrow.

The Scotland back-row forward now faces a Six Nations hearing over the allegation on Wednesday - and could miss the rest of the tournament.

This was just England's second defeat in 26 Tests under Eddie Jones, whose long-term aim with the Red Rose brigade is to win the 2019 World Cup.

Scotland had not scored a try against England at Murrayfield since wing Simon Danielli went over in 2004.

Wilson was involved in a tunnel scuffle with Owen Farrell before the match at Murrayfield but Six Nations Rugby is seeking clarification on that incident through the unions. Farrell, a few metres behind, pushes past a number of Scottish players to approach Wilson, who react negatively.

CT Joins Regional Gun-Control Coalition
Four Democratic Governors say they're not waiting for President Trump or Congress to come up with a solution for gun violence. Why? There's plenty of talk about how to prevent mass shootings like the one last week at a school in Parkland , Florida.

Before the match, there was a scuffle near the tunnel involving Farrell, Barclay and a slew of players as the teams trotted off the field after the warm-up.

"We were fuelled by previous year and the disappointment of the Wales game", Scotland captain John Barclay said.

"I've been coaching a game". "I've been pretty busy. You can show it to me after the press conference, then we can have a chat about it", Australian Jones quipped at the post-match press conference.

But with a trip to leaders Ireland - the only side who can complete a Grand Slam this season after a 37-27 win over Wales - on the horizon, Townsend knows Scotland must improve away from Edinburgh if they want to be regarded as serious contenders for the Six Nations title. "If there was (an incident), we shouldn't let that detract from a great Scotland victory", Jones said after the game.

"It is one of those things that gets built up into something more than it was".
