Underlining the importance of woman in a family and society, he said empowering a woman is empowering a whole family.

Chennai: A life-size statue of former chief minister J Jayalalithaa was unveiled and the ruling AIADMK's official Tamil Daily was launched Saturday at the party headquarters here on her 70th birth anniversary, which was celebrated by party cadres across Tamil Nadu.

Modi symbolically handed over the keys and registration certificates of two wheelers to five women on the occasion, reports PTI. "These initiatives will go a long way in empowerment of women and protection of nature", Modi said. The policy also allows only one woman per family to utilize the scheme. When we give them education, it empowers the entire family. Out of 31 crore Jan Dhan Bank Accounts, 16 crore are of women, Modi said, adding that the percentage of total bank accounts held by women has gone up from 28 percent in 2014 to 40 percent now.

'Annihilation' Is An Ambitious Film That Collapses Under Its Own Self-Importance
He admits, though, that he's aware how important that more explicit version of representation can be in this day and age. Once you finish Annihilation , you'll likely have a lot to talk about with your friends and on discussion boards online.

Stressing on the achievements of his government, Modi said the focus is on improving "Ease of Living" for the common citizen. The scheme gives 50 per cent subsidy to women to buy a scooter.

The prime minister also took a dig at the Congress. His senior Cabinet colleague and Fisheries Minister D. Jayakumar, when queried about it, said the unveiling of the statue was a matter of happiness for not just the AIADMK cadre but for all Tamils. At least 70 lakh saplings will be planted across Tamil Nadu to commemorate the 70th birth anniversary of Jayalalithaa. "After the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) came to power, this state received Rs 1,80,000 crore under the 14th Finance Commission". The union government was also working towards the modernisation of fishing. Talking to reporters here, he said the party was aware of the criticism over the lack of resemblance of the statue, erected on the premises of the party's headquarters here in Chennai, with the late leader. Hailing Modi, Panneerselvam said the Prime Minister was "courageously leading India".

The Prime Minister explained that women will be given loans worth Rs10 lakh to set up business. The scooter scheme was part of the AIADMK's electoral promise in the 2016 Assembly polls.
