NRA gives FCC chair a rifle for 'courage' to end net neutrality

FCC chair Pai receives NRA gun award for courage

"Charlton Heston Courage Under Fire Award" at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Friday.

"Ajit Pai is the most courageous, heroic person that I know", said Dan Schneider, the executive director of the American Conservative Union, The Hill reported.

The FCC voted in mid-December to repeal net neutrality in a decision that was split down party lines and which took place amid fierce public outcry.

Schneider added that Pai has received death threats and that his "property has been invaded by the George Soros crowd". He has a family and his family has been abused in different ways.

In December 2017, the FCC voted to dismantle net neutrality regulations, and the FCC published the final rule on the decision February 22. The effective date for the repeal is April 23.

Net neutrality attempts to ensure that Internet service providers enable access to all content and applications regardless of the source, and without favoring or blocking particular products or websites. "Despite the hard blow [FCC] Chairman [Ajit] Pai has dealt to the Open Internet, small businesses, and consumers, the fight for net neutrality continues", the group's senior counsel John Bergmayer said in a statement.

Lindsey Vonn makes her Olympic return
Along the way, her ACLs were worked over so many times you can't help but wonder if there's any original tissue left in her knees. I believed in myself. "Ski racing is an individual sport". "I remain in awe of the women that dominate in our sports", Shaw said.

"The repeal of net neutrality would have dire consequences for consumers and businesses in MS and across the country who rely on and have a right to a free and open internet", Hood said in a press release.

Schneiderman led a coalition of 23 Attorneys General in filing a petition today to formally commence their lawsuit against the Federal Communications Commission's illegal rollback of net neutrality. The 2015 rules also made it illegal for internet providers to charge companies a fee in exchange for better access to customers.

"We have long said that imposing a Depression-era, utility-style regulatory structure onto the internet was the wrong approach, and we applaud Chairman Pai's efforts to roll back these misguided regulations".

During a panel discussion at the conservative confab, Pai said that he endured the criticism because he was determined to "make a fundamental change in the way the agency operates". "I think it's important for us to set rules for the road that allow the American people to take control of their own lives, instead of having it run out of an American bureaucracy".

Prior recipients have included Vice-President Mike Pence and radio host Rush Limbaugh.
