Bubba Watson wins at Riviera for 3rd time

The Weekend at Riviera

Bubba Watson came to the greenside bunker at the par-3 14th hole clinging to the lead at the final round of the Genesis Open, with five players lurking just one shot back.

The Floridian's strongest performance in round three, a six-under round of 65, had powered him to a one-shot lead for the final day.

"It was kind of a roller coaster today", said Cantlay, who had four birdies and bogeys on the second and eighth holes. Cantlay stumbled after the turn though, dropping shots after encountering tree-trouble on the 12th and 13th holes. He splashed out of the sand and the ball rolled into the pin and disappeared into the cup for an unlikely birdie.

Not to be overlooked is the Masters, where Watson is a two-time victor. Another safe par on the final hole saw him lifting the trophy.

"My goal has always been to get 10 wins (on PGA Tour)", said Watson, speaking to CBS Sports live telecast, after he broke into tears and fell into the arms of his caddie, Ted Scott when holing a par-saving putt on No. 18 for a two-shot win.

Watson, 39, a Milton High grad, whose business interests in the area include part ownership of the Pensacola Blue Wahoos as well as a Chevrolet dealership with Sandy Sansing in Milton, joined legends Ben Hogan and Arnold Palmer as three-time winners of this event at famed Riviera Country Club. "When you get to the Tour, you want to win", he said.

Jackson, Ohio Middle School Student Shoots Himself
JMMS Superintendent Chris DiLoreto said he notified all parents of the incident as soon as it happened via notifications. Emotional moments as the first students were reunited with their parents at Jackson Memorial Middle School .

"Nobody thought Bubba Watson from Bagdad, Florida would ever get to 10 wins - without lessons, head case, hooking the ball, slicing the ball, can't putt", he said.

"So from that downfall of the letdown of not making the team and then to get sick, to lose all this weight, family drama of my son starting school, my wife having surgery, five screws and a small plate in her leg, just all these things added in, never knowing if you're going to make it again - you don't know", he continued. So you never know if that was going to be the last time.

Watson finished the tournament at 12-under 272, two shots clear of runners-up Kevin Na and Tony Finau. "The emotion was just that, like wow, I still have a chance in this game, so it was very emotional".

Watson moved ahead of Phil Mickelson, who did climb one spot to No. 11 with the 241.2 points he earned.

Tied with Durant with two holes left, Stricker dropped a stroke back when Durant birdied the par-5 17th.
