Drink-driver jailed for killing man and injuring pony

An quake has hit the west of the United Kingdom, as it was felt all the way from Cornwall to Liverpool and across Wales.

Today's natural disaster was the "biggest onshore United Kingdom event in 10 years" and 8 million times smaller than the magnitude 9.0 in Japan in March 2011, the BGS said.

The School of Ocean Sciences at Bangor University Tweeted: "Bangor region of north Wales just experienced an earth tremor".

Early data from British Geological Survey (BGS) measured the quake to be 4.4 magnitude.

Very quickly after the quake, Brits took to Twitter to post pictures and videos about the "tragic" seismic event - with their tongues firmly in their cheeks.

So far there have been no reports of major damage or injuries.
