Windows 10: This Microsoft mobile app wirelessly transfers pics from Android, iOS

Companion for Android and iOS is Now Available

Another drawback is that the app works oneway, i.e., you can only transfer photos from Android and iOS to Windows 10, vice-versa isn't possible. It transfers the photo and video files over WiFi making it necessary for both the devices to be on the same network.

After closing the Photos app and opening it again, you'll see a new option in the Import drop-down menu, letting you copy photos from your phone to your PC wirelessly. It essentially works as a bridge between a Windows 10 PC and mobile devices. Previously users would have to resort to methods like USB, Bluetooth, or cloud transfer - the app seems to offer a less tedious, streamlined process for photo sharing. The main objective of the app as previously reported is to have a direct and easy way of transferring photos and videos from your smartphone to your PC. Moreover, a QR code is also required in the app that helps you start transferring the content. Users select the photos they want to transfer from the companion app and then use settings in the Photos app to begin transferring them over Wi-Fi.

Kim Jong Un impressed with South Korea's treatment of sister
A number of media outlets, including CNN and Reuters , faced criticism for their favorable coverage of Kim's visit to the games. North Korea has emerged as the early favourite to grab one of the Winter Olympics' most important medals: the diplomatic gold.

"We knew that students often captured on multiple phones or tablets, but leveraged a single "project" PC to assemble their media and create their final project". So the Garage and Photos team opted for a Wi-Fi based direct transfer system. But in all, it is a great feature and another great android, iOS app from the Microsoft Garage project. You can download the Photos Companion app on your iOS device by visiting the App Store, or on your Android device by going to Google Play.

The company says Photos Companion will come in handy for students who do not back up the photos they take to a cloud storage such as its very own OneDrive. There you will find a preview option at the end - "Help Microsoft Test the mobile import over WiFI feature".
