Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich to become the Indianapolis Colts head coach

Report | Frank Reich becomes frontrunner to land Colts job

"We are extremely excited to announce Frank Reich as head coach of the Indianapolis Colts", Colts owner & CEO Jim Irsay said. This is Reich's first head coaching gig in the NFL.

ESPN's Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen reported earlier Sunday that Reich was the favorite to be the Colts' consolation prize after Indianapolis was spurned by Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels last week. Updates with Colts making official announcement.

The purge of the Eagles' Super Bowl winning coaching staff started with QB coach John DeFilippo leaving Philadelphia to become the Vikings' offensive coordinator. Reich is one of three candidates that have interviewed with the Colts since Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels backed out of an agreement to become the team's head coach last week. Pairing Reich with Andrew Luck could make for a unsafe combination, leading the offense to return to its previous level of success.

The Colts couldn't have the losing offensive coordinator in Super Bowl LII, so they'll settle on the victor.

New Type Of 3D Vision In Praying Mantis Discovered
The scientists attached a mantis-sized pair of dual-color 3D glasses to the insects' eyes, using beeswax as temporary adhesive. The team found mantises don't bother about the details of the picture but just look for places where the picture is changing .

Reich makes a ton of sense for the Colts, who already have a quarterback in place and need an offensive minded head coach to come in and save their franchise player. While head coach Doug Pederson handled the play-calling for the Eagles, Reich worked with him on game plans and also served to help develop quarterback Carson Wentz and, when Wentz went down, groom Nick Foles to step in and thrive in the playoffs. They've reportedly landed on another Super Bowl OC.

Reich's most famous National Football League moment came when he was forced to fill in for the injured Jim Kelly during the Bills' 1992 wild card game against the Houston Oilers.

Reich could be the ideal head coach to best understand how to use Andrew Luck. According to the NFL Network, the Colts are hoping Reich can bring out the best in quarterback Andrew Luck.
