Trudeau says he shouldn't make stupid jokes in public

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau fields questions at a town hall meeting during a visit to the Cultural Centre in Fredericton on Tuesday Jan. 17 2017

Mr Trudeau said he wouldn't be "making any more jokes" following the comment he made at a Q&A session at the MacEwan University in Edmonton.

"We know we can work towards a good deal, but we also know that we will not be pushed into accepting any old deal", Trudeau said. Trump's tough talk about trade deals and immigration changed the political climate in the United States.

'One of your most infamous Chicagoans, Al Capone, who was as effective an importer of Canadian goods into the USA as anyone, once pointed out he didn't even know what street Canada was on'.

Speaking at the University of Chicago's Institute of Politics, Trudeau said Canada will engage "thoughtfully and constructively" in talks with the USA and Mexico. He noted the two nations' economies are so interlinked that Canada wants a good deal with the U.S.

During his trip, Trudeau will also meet with other technology executives, including eBay Inc (EBAY.O) chief executive officer Devin Wenig.

Before the exchange at the meeting, the woman who spoke to Trudeau thanked him for "recently fill [ing] the seats of your cabinet with female leaders".

"I'm not going to wonder about things!" he said to laughter, when Axelrod asked him why Canadian approval of the USA government had fallen from 60 percent to 20 percent over the previous year.

Detroit Pistons Acquire Veteran Guard Jameer Nelson
Johnson, 23, a 2016 first-round pick by the Clippers, was averaging 1.8 points this season for the Pistons. Nelson was moved to Chicago in the deal that sent Nikola Mirotic to the Pelicans on February 2.

His first stop in Chicago today is set to be anything but easy. I think there's broad consensus that the agreement needs to be updated.

Trudeau is due to give a speech in Chicago on Wednesday to sell the merits of bilateral trade.

A small group of protesters quietly gathered outside Trudeau's event at the University of Chicago, demanding he follow through on a pledge for stronger labour and environmental provisions in a new NAFTA.

"We are here not to steal jobs from Silicon Valley", Sankar said in an interview this week.

That kind of talk will get more attention from the anti-trade crowd, Maisch said.

Trudeau is likely to do just that when he sits down face-to-face with Jeff Bezos, Amazon's top executive, as his company decides whether to make Toronto home to a second headquarters. Trudeau will speak to a cross-section of municipal, state and federal lawmakers at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Institute.
